Nathaniel Moon, also known as Silver Moon, is a major character in the AMC series Into the Badlands.
Once the most dangerous and feared Clipper in the Badlands, he retired after years of killing and started a family. After his family was murdered by the brother of one of his victims, Nathaniel went on to become a bounty hunter in the Outlands. Nathaniel would eventually lose his hand during a battle with Sunny, and later join the Widow as her new Regent in order to get revenge.
He was portrayed by Sherman Augustus.
Personality[]
Nathaniel has changes his focus in life on several occasions, originally being the most accomplished Clipper in the Badlands, he was known to be a ruthless killer. However, similar to Sunny, hundreds of kills eventually changed his perspective on life, and he no longer wanted to continue fighting for Barons. This prompted him to try and leave the Badlands and start a family, but after losing that family to the brother of one of his past victims, Nathaniel figured that he could never truly escape his past, and gave up on trying to live a normal life. While searching for someone worthy of being his 1000th Clipper tattoo, he eventually crossed paths with Sunny, and figured he was the one worthy of being his final kill. After Sunny defeated him and his companion Bajie cut of Nathaniel's hand, Nathaniel requested that Sunny kill him so he may have an honorable death, but Sunny denied this to him, leaving Nathaniel lost.
Nathaniel changed once again after the Widow approached him in the Outlands, who not only offered him a chance to get revenge on Sunny for denying him his honor but also gave him a new prosthetic hand. He became loyal to helping her in the war against Baron Chau, and also rekindled his romance with Lydia, who had also allied herself with the Widow. After ending his feud with Sunny due to learning that Sunny had a newborn son, Nathaniel's goals changed significantly. He even tried to convince the Widow to give up her feud with Sunny, claiming it was not worth it anymore. He ultimately decided to stay in the Badlands so as to be with Lydia and to continue aiding the Widow in her battles with Chau and Pilgrim. After Lydia is murdered by Cressida, Nathaniel's main focus becomes getting revenge, although he no longer cares for honor, instead simply wanting to get payback for the loss of his lover.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Martial Arts/Swordsmanship: Nathaniel is one of the most skilled warriors in the Badlands, once being considered the most dangerous Clipper in all of the lands prior to Sunny taking his place. Even without his hand, he was still able to fight the Widow to a standstill, and was one of the few fighters to hold their own against Sunny and be capable of killing Dark Ones.
- Prosthetic Hand: Nathaniel is gifted a prosthetic hand by the Widow, which has both an extendable blade and two darts that can be fired from the knuckles.
- Leadership: Nathaniel has been a Regent for both the Widow's husband and later the Widow herself, successfully leading a Clipper force and an invasion of Baron Chau's territory.

Trivia[]
- Nathaniel alludes to Sha Wujing from the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West, of which Into the Badlands is loosely based on.
- Nathaniel's signature Clipper sword is a Five-Ring Chinese Broadsword, with the with the rings being used for the sake of disarming opponents wielding small blades such as Sai.
- The sword is initially stolen from Nathaniel by Sunny but is later returned to him, and he continues to use it until it is destroyed during a battle with Eli due to the sheer strength of his Gift.
- Likely a result of living beyond the Badlands, Nathaniel the only characters in the series to have a last name that is not a member of the Chau family.
