Nayuta is a major character of the 2018 dark fantasy manga series Chainsaw Man . She is the current incarnation of the Control Devil, shortly after Denji had killed Makima. She was discovered by Kishibe, who would brought her to Japan so that Denji could use the opportunity to raise the Control Devil into a better individual than her predecessor.
Appearance[]
Nayuta initially appears to be a little girl with neck length black hair, yellow eyes with multiple red rings, and a small black mole under her left eye. For her attire she wore a black shirt with a white color as well as black pants and shoes.
By the time of Part 2 Nayuta has grown considerably taller and appears to resemble an adolescent. She now has longer hair in the style of a ponytail similar to Makima with one of the bangs covering her left eye.
Personality[]
Unlike her predecessor, Makima who was a manipulative, irredeemable monster, thanks to Denji influence Nayuta is more akin to a spoiled yet compassionate girl. She is extremely spoiled and controlling viewing Denji as her property, getting angry when he kissed Asa. She was also quite greedy and spoiled demanding daily ice cream in exchange for turning Asa back to normal and even controlled her classmates into giving her their desserts. Despite her willingness to integrate and associate with human society even having friends, she like any other Devil is indifferent towards them. She looks down on humans and is more than willing to kill them if they prove to be a threat to her or Denji claiming that it's natural and apart of her nature comparing it to fish swimming, or plants photosynthesizing. At one point she even contemplated helping her kind destroy humanity in the upcoming Prophecy of Nostradamus citing that human society is restrictive and she wants to be free do do as she pleases.
However despite her flaws she is genuinely a good person at heart. She deeply cares for Denji and is extremely protective of him being willing to risk her life to save his and even considering him as family.
History[]
Control Devil Arc[]
After the defeat of the previous incarnation of the Control Devil, Nayuta incarnated in China as the new Control Devil. Kishibe would find her in China and bring her to Japan.
During Kishibe and Denji's meeting, Nayuta approached them hugging one of Makima's dogs. Kishibe introduced her to Denji as she bit one of Denji's fingers. Denji remembered the bite from the moment Makima bit his finger, immediately making the connection between the two. Kishibe goes on to say that Makima is indeed gone, and this new Control Devil must not be allowed to follow a similar path, thus leaving Nayuta in Denji's care instead of Public Safety. Kishibe then disappears and this forces Denji to raise Nayuta as his little sister. Despite this Nayuta is confused as to why she feels pity and affection towards him and even questions who she is. Nayuta then decides to use her powers to scan Denji's mind. She finds out about her past as Makima and her attemps to break Denji to get to Pochita. Nayuta then resolves to finish Makima's plans hoping to find her own identity in the process. However overtime she begins to genuinely bond with Denji and begins to care about him, accepting her role as his family.
Dating Denji Arc[]
Nayuta goes out for a walk with the dogs, but when she returns home, she finds Denji and Asa Mitaka (actually Yoru controlling her body) kissing. She calls Asa a thief and, pointing her finger at her, puts a chain through her skull which brainwashed her into thinking she is a dog. Denji questions why she would do such a thing to which she claims that she got spit on her "property". Denji demands that Nayuta change her back but she refuses unless Denji feeds her to which he complies. After she eats Denji asks Nayuta to turn her back, she agreed but only on two conditions, One: She gets to eat ice cream everyday, Two: Denji is no longer allowed to get close to Asa. She explains that it's probably for the best as she points out that every girl he meets tries to kill him. She then tells Denji that she will erase Asa's memory to make her believe that Denji stood her up much to his dismay.
Falling Devil Arc[]
Sometime afterwards Nayuta catches the sent of a very nasty devil (The Falling Devil). She then smacks Denji on the butt and demands he transform into Chainsaw Man and defeat it. However Denji refuses and admits that he might just give up being Chainsaw Man. He claims that Nayuta will just stop him from getting attention from the ladies. Nayuta however points out that being Chainsaw Man and getting the glory will make everyone like him which in turn will give him way more love than from a girlfriend. Denji thinks it over for a few seconds and decides to go along with it.
However Denji’s fight with the Falling Devil goes awry and him and Asa end up getting eaten by the Justice Devil. However Nayuta uses her powers to manipulate the Justice Devil’s mind into thinking the two taste like feces. This causes the Justice Devil to regurgitate them and Falling Devil to kill Justice for rejecting her food. Nayuta then talks with her sister the Famine Devil aka Fami. Nayuta questions why Fami went after Denji and Asa. Fami explains that she can turned the starved into her pawns and she planned on trapping Asa in the Justice Devil stomach to starve her under her control. Fami believes that Asa and their sister the War Devil are the only ones who can prevent the prophecy of Nostradamus and the extinction of humanity. Nayuta asks why Fami even cared to which she reveals with humanity gone its cuisine will be wiped out as well much to Nayuta’s horror. Fami then asks Nayuta to work with her to stop the prophecy but she refuses as she is busy with school. Nayuta can later be seen in class excitedly trying to answer her teachers question.
Chainsaw Man Church[]
While at school during luck period she uses her powers to manipulate her classmates into giving her their deserts. Her classmates then discuss the chaos the Falling Devil caused and how several students died because of it. Suddenly however a group of armed men from Public Safety storm the lunchroom and detain Nayuta. It’s revealed that Hirofumi Yoshida was ordered by Public Saftey to kidnap Nayuta and threaten to kill her in order to get Denji to give up being Chainsaw Man. However two Public Sagtey agents reunite Denji and Nayuta before he can properly get the message across, Nayuta is angry at Yoshida for threatening her life and the two take their leave.
Over the next few weeks Denji and Nayuta try to live normals lives and leave Chainsaw Man behind. However one night Denji has a breakdown when he see’s somebody from the newly established Chainsaw Man church pretending to be him and taking all his glory. Nayuta then comforts Denji. The next day Denji takes Nayuta to an amusement park only for them to be confronted by the second in command of the Chainsaw Man Church, Barem Bridge. Barem tries to get the other hybrids to attack innocent civilians to goad Denji into becoming Chainsaw Man again. However thankfully Quanxi stops them from causing any harm. However unexpectedly dozens of civilians transform into devil human hybrids resembling Chainsaw Man due to a contract made with the Fire Devil. Barem then reveals that the Chainsaw Man Chuchs’ true goal is to stop the prophecy of Nostradamus.
Denji believes the prophecy to be fake. But not only does Nayuta validate it but she reveals the truth. The herald of the prophecy, the Great King of Terror is none other than the Death Devil the most powerful Devil in existence and her, Fami and Yoru’s oldest sister. She claims that Fami’s plan is to make everyone afraid of both the War Devil and Chainsaw Man to make them strong enough to defeat the Death Devil. Barem praises Nayuta for figuring out their plan but he decides to sic his army of Chainsaw Men on Nayuta. Thankfully Quanxi saves them before they can be attacked. However while Public Safety is burning the bodies of the fallen Chainsaw Men a civilian claims that Denji is one of them. However before Public Saftey can take actions Quanxi stops them and gives them enough time to escape.
Although Nayuta and Denji want to go home and feed their pets, their bodyguard Fumiko Mifune refuses to let them as it’s too dangerous. Nayuta claims that she will simply kill anything that dares to attack them even if it is a human. Fumiko still refuses to budge which prompts Nayuta to control a man to get her out of the way. However Denji manages to distract Nayuta by tickling her, allowing Fumiko to escape. Denji questions why Nayuta is so okay with killing human to which she justifies that it’s natural for a Devil to want to kill humans, comparing it to how fish swim or plants photosynthesize. Nayuta then tells Denji that she has been thinking about the two of them joint the Devils in the upcoming war. She claims that for as fun as it is humans society is restricting and she believes that if they ruled over people as Devil the could do whatever they want. They could eat good food and own as many pets as they want.
However, Denji shows a disagreement with this proclamation. Nayuta then realizes that he still likes Asa Mitaka since she was the first person he kissed without getting hurt. Nayuta then asks how much Denji likes her to which he makes it clear although he likes her a lot, he still loves Nayuta more. Nayuta satisfied by this proclamation, agrees not to kill any humans and they go on their way back to their apartment. However, once they arrive, they find out much of the horror that their apartment has been burned down by Barem killing all of their pets. Although Fumiko and Public Safety try to protect them their efforts are stopped by the other hybrids. Nayuta attempts to control Barem into biting off his own tongue and killing himself however this does not work. Barem explains that he is still loyal to Makima and begins to choke Nayuta, intending to make Denji suffer.
Thankfully, Nayuta controls a Public Safety officer to shot Barem before he can kill her. Denji fed up with Barem and the hybrids finally transforms into Chainsaw Man and brutally murders them all. Denji then claims that Nayuta should not be around him anymore as he is too obsessed with being Chainsaw Man much to her shock and sadness. However an angry mob attacks Denji blaming him for the madness that unfolded.
Just as they are about to light him on fire Nayuta remembers how much Denji means to her and controls a human to save her adopted brother. Another human carries Denji to safety which leads to Nayuta turning the humans against each other which causes them to kill one another. However, she notes that she’s not getting any enjoyment out of this. All of a sudden Barem pleads with the mob and outs Nayuta as a Devil revealing she’s behind them turning against each other. Although they don’t believe it at first as they claim she is just a regular young girl. Barem pulls out a gun and shoots Nayuta. But before he can get a second shot off he realizes he’s out of ammo and decides to resort to another plan. He puts the gun into his head and pretends that Nayuta is trying to force him to kill himself. The mob then attacks Nayuta, leaving her fate unknown.
Current Arc[]
Denji is later kidnapped by Public Safety as they now view him as a threat that needs to be detained. When Denji wakes up he questions where Nayuta is, Hirofumi claims that they don’t know. He is then sedated and goes through a operation to dismember him to ensure he can't regenerate again. However thanks to the efforts of Asa/Yoru, and Fami, Denji is rescued. When he wakes up he begs them to help him find Nayuta. They then return to the remains of Denji's apartment but they do not find her. Asa see's that Denji's is hungry and offers to take him to get sushi. However once they go to the sushi restaurant Denji is confronted by Barem. Barem claims that Public Safety is outside and is preparing to take them down. He tells Denji that if he defeats them he will take him to Nayuta.
However before the can do that, Barem insists he eat some sushi first. Denji complies reluctantly. Barem then reveals that they need to bring back the original Chainsaw Devil, Pochita. However the only way to do that is to get everyone to fear him and to break Denji psychologically. Barem then tells the sushi chef to bring out the "package". The package is revealed to be the severed head of Nayuta, revealing that she seemingly died. This proves to be Denji’s final breaking point and Pochita rises from within him once again.

As a Devil, Nayuta possesses all of the general Devil skills, such as the ability to make contracts with humans for a price, reincarnate when she dies, and drink blood to regenerate.
- Domination: Being the Devil of Control, her main ability reflects her nature, allowing her to control whatever being she wants, causing the dominated to become practically puppets at the same time. her will. It is unknown if said power has the same characteristics that she presented with her past incarnation, Makima, but it is presumed to be the case.
- Domination Chain: Nayuta can summon an ethereal chain of domination against a target that bends them to her will. However unlike Makima, she claims she can only control three people at once at least for the time being.
- Mental control: A being affected by the chains of domination is at the disposal of Nayuta's will, being able to make it behave as she wishes, even modifying or erasing her memories.
Skills[]
- Enhanced Senses: Nayuta, like Makima, is able to tell others apart primarily through scent.

- Nayuta is named after the protagonist of a one-shot written by Fujimoto, Yogen no Nayuta.
- The appearance of both is very similar, the only difference being an antlers present in the one-shot.
- Nayuta's hair color refers to the color of the horse of the third horseman of the apocalypse to appear according to the original myth, the Hunger Horseman.
