Biography[]
Early life[]
Nebula was born on the planet Luphom to unnamed parents, as part of the Luphomoid species. When she was just an infant, Thanos, a Titan who believed that halving every species was the way to save the universe, killed her family but adopted Nebula as a competitor for his other daughter, a Zehoberei girl named Gamora, and raised her on his ship the Sanctuary alongside her other adopted siblings.
She and Gamora grew close, genuinely considering themselves sisters, but the relationship was strained by Thanos forcing the two girls to fight each other over and over, with Gamora always winning. As punishment, Nebula would had every part of her replaced with machinery in order to make her Gamora's 'equal', until she eventually became a full cyborg, causing bitter resentment from Nebula towards Gamora. The sisters were trained to help Thanos find the Infinity Stones, which he wanted to use to permanently erase half of all life in the universe.
Despite the cruel treatment from her father, as well as him openingly favouring Gamora, Nebula still had a fierce desire to please him and gain his approval, something that carried into adulthood. One day, Gamora and Nebula began a hunt for a powerful item simply known as the Orb. Thanos wanted the Orb and sent his daughters with Korath the Pursuer to collect it. During a false lead for the Orb, Nebula became ensnared by an impenetrable Laser-Thorn-Energy-Net and asked Gamora to help her. However, Thanos' ordered Gamora to leave Nebula behind; Gamora complied with their father's wishes but left a large knife for Nebula with which to cut herself out of the netting. This made Gamora and Nebula both realise that their 'father' didn't truly care for them and would abandon either of them at a moment's notice, starting a deep resentment towards him for all he had done.
At some point, Gamora found a map to the Soul Stone under Thanos' orders and discovered it was on a planet named Vormir. She destroyed the map and informed Nebula, although the two lied to Thanos, who allowed them to think that he believed them.
Guardians of the Galaxy[]
On Thanos' orders, Nebula and Gamora joined their father's army in slaying half of the Korbinites population. Nebula was nearly killed by Korbin soldiers, but Gamora saved her, much to her annoyance, and the sisters went back to their Q-Ship when the 'cleansing' was finished. Gamora informed Nebula that the Power Stone, one of six Infinity Stones that Thanos desired, had been located on a planet called Morag, and Nebula became eager about Thanos' plan finally coming into action.
At that moment, Thanos himself suddenly appeared. He told them that he planned to dispatch them to Ronan the Accuser's ship, Ronan being a Kree Warrior who allied with Thanos in exchange for Thanos destroying a planet named Xandar. He ordered them to help Ronan get the Orb, and Nebula agreed, bowing deeply to him to show her devotion for her father, and Thanos simply said that he knew she wouldn't fail him, under threat of severe punishment.
When she and Gamora were dispatched to Ronan's ship, the Dark Aster, Nebula discovered that Korath's attempted collection of the Orb, which held the Power Stone, was foiled by a man named Star-Lord, who would be going to Xandar to sell the Orb to the Broker. Initially, Ronan tasked Nebula to retrieve it, but Gamora cut in and took the mission instead, angering Nebula at her sister once again being chosen over her, and the two briefly fought outside until Gamora left to get the Orb.
A while later, Ronan and Nebula discovered that Gamora had been arrested by the Nova Corps and sent to the Kyln, further learning that Gamora had betrayed Ronan and Thanos and planned to sell the Orb to another person. They were then ordered by the Other to return to the Sanctuary, where Nebula fixed her cybernetic arm as Ronan argued with Thanos and the Other over Gamora's betrayal, hearing Thanos call Gamora his 'favourite daughter' and watching as Ronan murdered the Other. Leaving the meeting, Nebula sarcastically thanked Thanos and left with Ronan, back to the Dark Aster, to go get Gamora and the Orb from the Kyln.
When Ronan, Nebula, and the Sakaarans arrived at the Kyln to get the Orb, they discovered that Gamora had already escaped with the Orb and some of the other prisoners, including Star-Lord. To get rid of the evidence, Nebula massacred every prisoner and guard at the Kyln to hide what had happened there before leaving, where she went looking for the Orb with Korath across the galaxy. While looking, they received a message from Drax the Destroyer, one of the prisoners Gamora had escaped with, who wanted to get revenge on Ronan for murdering his wife and daughter, and told him they were on Knowhere. Going to Knowhere, Nebula went to retrieve the Orb from Gamora, who tried to convince her to leave Ronan, but Nebula refused to listen, and she left Gamora for dead in space after blowing up her ship pod and taking the Orb, which she gave to Ronan when back on the Dark Aster.
Nebula witnessed Ronan betraying Thanos, saying he no longer needed the Mad Titan as the Orb held the Power Stone, one of the most powerful creations in the universe. Eager to see her father dead for all the pain he had put her through, Nebula joined Ronan's side and also betrayed her father, offering to help Ronan destroy Xandar if he killed Thanos for her afterwards, and then went towards Xandar's orbit to destroy the planet.
The plan was thwarted by a still alive Gamora and her team of prisoners, with the help of the Nova Corps and the Ravagers, who eventually stormed through Ronan's ship and dealt with Korath, who was killed by Drax. Gamora was sent to open a door, but Nebula was sent to defend it. The sisters had a swordfight during while Ronan tried to annihilate Xandar. Gamora got the winning hand and cornered Nebula to a cliff on Ronan's ship, trying again to convince her to join them and holding onto her. Nebula let go and fell to her presumed death. Fortunately, however, she landed on one of the Ravager attack quads and tried to attack. When that failed, she then escaped the war and left Ronan's side, vanishing to avoid Thanos' wrath.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2[]
Two months after the Battle of Xandar, deciding to murder Thanos herself, Nebula attempted to steal Anulax Batteries from the Sovereign so she could sell them for money for weaponry. However, she was immediately captured and offered to the Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora's new team, if they destroyed a creature called the Abilisk. The Guardians succeeded and Nebula was handed over to them, where they intended to take her to Xandar to be imprisoned there and receive a bounty from the Nova Corps. Nebula and Gamora exchanged barbs, with Gamora refusing to give Nebula any Yaro Root as a snack and Nebula accusing her of leaving her to die.
While leaving the Sovereign on the Milano, a Sovereign fleet attacked due to Rocket stealing the Batteries. They managed to escape, but crashed on a planet named Berhert. Surrounded by a large ship that had saved them from the Sovereign, Nebula tried to convince them to let her free if they needed to fight, but the Guardians saw through her lies and refused. Off the ship stepped Ego and Mantis, with Ego claiming to be Star-Lord, or Peter Quill's, father.
The Guardians decided to go see Ego's planet form, and Rocket and a baby Groot stayed behind to keep an eye on the still captured Nebula and rebuild their ship, and Rocket was told to shoot her if she tried to escape. At night, the Ravagers landed on Berhert to capture the Guardians for the Sovereign bounty placed on them, and although Rocket managed to evade and kill a few, he was eventually caught. Nebula tricked Groot into freeing her, only to ally herself with the Ravagers when they mutinied against Yondu Udonta and taking Rocket and Groot captive.
On the Ravager ship, Nebula stopped the Ravagers from killing Rocket and demanded ten percent of the bounty. Kraglin Obfonteri gave her a new cybernetic hand, and Nebula explained her torturous 'childhood' and her plan to buy a warship with every instrument of death to kill Thanos after she killed Gamora. She then took an M-Ship and went to Ego's planet body in an attempt to kill Gamora, although her sister fled from her and hid in a cavern, before grabbing a gun and shooting Nebula's ship down. Gamora saved Nebula as the ship exploded, but she continued attacking Gamora until she got her in a chokehold, and realised that she was still waiting for Thanos to come and congratulate her over her single combat victory over her sister.
Excited, Nebula let go of Gamora and started claiming she'd bested her in combat. Gamora refuted this, saying she let her live, and the two began to argue, with Gamora excusing Nebula of only wanting to win. Angered, Nebula screamed that it was Gamora who wanted to win, and Nebula only ever wanted a sister. She then spoke about how Gamora was all she had growing up, but no matter what, Gamora never let her win, despite knowing what Thanos did to her. Having reached an uneasy alliance, they looked around the caverns, and discovered a massive cave filled with bones. Realising that Ego had much worse intentions than at first glance, Nebula and Gamora raced back to find and save the Guardians. They learnt from a redeemed Mantis that Ego actually planned to make the universe part of him, as he believed he could improve it, and the bones were the skeletons of all the children Ego had had that didn't have any of his Celestial powers, and that he wanted Peter to use him as a battery for his own abilities.
The Guardians, alongside an escaped Rocket, Groot, and Yondu, all formed an alliance with Nebula to kill Ego. Groot planted a bomb in his brain, and while fighting the Sovereign fleet that went after them, Nebula ended up saving Gamora's life, showing she still genuinely cared about her sister. They managed to all escape Ego, although Yondu sacrificed his life to save Peter, his adopted son.
During Yondu's funeral, Nebula prepared to leave, still wanting to kill Thanos despite giving up on her goal of killing Gamora. Gamora attempted to persuade Nebula to stay and join the Guardians to protect other innocent children, as well as apologising for their childhood and explaining they were both scared, abused little girls. Nebula still chose to go after Thanos, and the two sisters hugged before Nebula left, reaffirming that they saw each other as sisters.
Avengers: Infinity War[]
Four years later, Nebula snuck onto the Sanctuary II and attempted to kill Thanos, in which she nearly succeeded before being stopped and placed in a chamber where all her cybernetic pieces parts would be pulled apart from her body to torture her. Thanos brought a kidnapped Gamora to see her, as he knew they had lied years earlier about not knowing the location of the Soul Stone, and forced Gamora to watch Nebula being tortured so she would give it up. Despite Nebula shaking her head at Gamora, she couldn't bare seeing her sister tortured, so told Thanos the location of the Soul Stone: Vormir.
Thanos left with Gamora to get the Soul Stone, and a Chitauri guard began putting Nebula back together. When she was fully back together again, she killed him and sent a message to Mantis so she and the Guardians would meet on Titan, Thanos' home planet, as she knew the Black Order would go there once they had the Time Stone and Mind Stone. She then stole a ship, getting away from the Sanctuary II.
By the time Nebula arrived on Titan, Thanos was already there and fighting the Guardians alongside Tony Stark, Peter Parker, and Stephen Strange. She told Thanos that he should have killed her, and her father coldly replied it would have been a waste of parts. As she fought him, Nebula demanded to know where Gamora was, but he refused to answer, and promptly threw her into some rocks. When Thanos was finally subdued by Mantis using her empath powers on him, Quill demanded to know where Gamora was, and Mantis told them he was in mourning as Thanos began crying genuine tears.
Nebula then realised that Thanos was crying for Gamora, whom he had sacrificed to get the Soul Stone. Thanos confirmed this, saying he had to kill her. In a blind rage, Quill punched Thanos and resorted in the plan failing, with Thanos using the Soul Stone to remove Nebula's soul, eventually stabbing Stark and attempting to use the Stones to kill him. Strange was then forced to give up the Time Stone to spare his life, and Mantis returned Nebula's soul to her with her abilities as Thanos teleported away.
A few minutes later, as they all regrouped, Mantis alerted them that she could feel something happening, and abruptly turned into dust. Drax, Quill, Strange, and Parker all soon followed, and Nebula realised Thanos had gotten the Mind Stone and completed his mission, snapping away half of all living things. Only she and Stark were left on Titan, and Nebula sat down in defeat, mourning her sister, their failure, and her teammates.
Avengers: Endgame[]
Nebula and Stark piloted the Benatar to leave Titan and set a course to Earth. However, they were stranded in deep space with the ship suddenly halted due to its power distribution cells being severely damaged during the battle on Titan, and due to a lack of oxygen and food, were close to death after two weeks in space. Fortunately, they were rescued by Carol Danvers, who brought their ship back to Earth, where Rocket and Nebula discovered they were the last two Guardians left, and sat together in grim comfort.
Upon hearing of Thanos' current location on an uninhabited planet and sensing that he used the Stones again, Nebula told them what she knew about Thanos' plan after he had completed his mission, and went along with the Avengers to confront Thanos in hope of retrieving the Stones and reversing the Snap. However, Thanos taunted them by confessing that he actually destroyed the Stones - which nearly killed him - prior to their arrival so that no one could reverse what he did. The other Avengers reluctantly refused to believe this and accuses him of lying, but Nebula pointed out that Thanos wasn't a liar in spite of his notorious crimes. Grateful, Thanos thanked Nebula for pointing that out and admitted that he was wrong to be too harsh on her, but this provoked an angry Thor to decapitate him. In spite of her hatred towards Thanos, Nebula was touched by Thanos' last words and mourned for him by closing his eyelids out of respect, grieving her father despite his abusive treatment of her and his actions.
For the next five years, Nebula helped the Avengers in maintaining control throughout the universe, despite the surviving half of the populace being unable to move on due to their losses caused by Thanos. She also changed out her face armor for bronze-orange pieces. However, one day, Scott Lang returned from the Quantum Realm and revealed that it took him five hours to get out after he entered the Quantum Realm prior to the Snap. Upon learning this, the Avengers realized that they could use the Quantum Realm to create a time machine to travel back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones and use them to reverse the Snap for good.
Nebula was tasked alongside James Rhodes to go back to 2014 Morag, where they would have to steal the Power Stone before Peter could. Though they were successful in gaining the Power Stone, with the pair bonding over the fact they both had cybernetic parts to them, Nebula soon discovered, to her horror, that her cybernetic implants were interfacing with those of her past self, preventing her from returning to the present. Running back to the ship, Nebula attempted to send a warning to Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff, who were also in 2014 getting the Soul Stone, that Thanos knew, but she was captured by his ship and beaten by her 2014 self, who was still loyal to Thanos. Her bronze parts were taken by the 2014 Nebula so she could infiltrate the present, so she could bring Thanos and his army through, as he wanted to wipe out the entire universe and create a 'grateful' one using the Infinity Stones the Avengers had got. Nebula tried to tell 2014 Gamora, who was watching, how Thanos murdered in the future, but 2014 Nebula hit her more.
2014 Nebula traveled to the present, where she witnessed the Avengers creating a new Nano Gauntlet to hold all the Stones before using them to reverse the Snap, reviving those who have perished. While they did so, 2014 Nebula took control of the time machine, allowing herself to transport the 2014 Thanos and the Black Order, and his vast army of Chitauri soldiers, Leviathans, and Outriders to the present, current Nebula included. 2014 Nebula then went to go and find the Nano Gauntlet in the flooding ruins of the Compound.
However, during this, 2014 Gamora, prior to the Power Stone heist or meeting any of the Guardians, was having doubts about the plan and went to see present Nebula, asking what happened with them in the future. Nebula told her that they become sisters, and so 2014 Gamora freed her and they went to stop 2014 Nebula, who had taken the Gauntlet from an oblivious Clint. Present Nebula offered 2014 Nebula to join them, but 2014 Nebula tried to kill 2014 Gamora, forcing present Nebula to kill her past self, although she was empathetic to her past self's suffering.
Nebula then introduced 2014 Gamora to Peter Quill, who was brought back when Bruce Banner undid the Snap, who mistook her for 'their' Gamora, and Nebula told 2014 Gamora that her choices were him or Groot when she reacted with disgust and disbelief at the two ever being a couple. The sisters then participated in the Battle of Earth and watched as Stark sacrificed his life to kill Thanos and his army, including the rest of the Black Order. Out of respect, Nebula knelt for Stark, but 2014 Gamora vanished and left Earth due to now being trapped in a new timeline and not knowing anyone except present Nebula.
A week later, Nebula attended Stark's funeral with the other Guardians and rejoined the Guardians when the Avengers disbanded permanently, alongside Kraglin. They went to Norway to pick up their new member, Thor, and Nebula suggested Thor and Peter fight over the leadership while they searched for 2014 Gamora, who would keep in touch with Nebula due to still considering themselves sisters.
Thor: Love and Thunder[]
Two years later, after giving up searching for 2014 Gamora, Nebula remained helping the Guardians across the galaxy alongside Thor and Korg. After helping Thor fight the Booskans on Indigarr and being gifted two screaming goats by King Yakan, Nebula and Mantis tried to kill them, but were stopped by Thor and accidentally shooting Korg.
Later, they answered a distress call from Sif, an old friend of Thor's, informing the group that a man named Gorr the God Butcher was killing gods across the galaxy. Learning this, Thor and Korg left the team, having a farewell with the Guardians before departing.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special[]
By late 2025, Nebula and the Guardians had bought Knowhere from the Collector, as well as gaining a new member, Cosmo, a talking, telekinetic Soviet spacedog, and traded in the Benatar for a bigger ship called the Bowie. Nebula helped the team to refurbish Knowhere following the attack it had endured in Thanos' quest for the Infinity Stones. At some point, she also removed her bronze facial armour and replaced it back with her normal blue parts.
In December, Nebula listened to Kraglin's story about Quill's first Christmas in space as a child, where Yondu ruined it for him. As Mantis spoke about celebrating Christmas to cheer up Quill, Nebula stated that they had no time for trivialities like Christmas since they were too busy fixing up Knowhere and leading the city. However, Nebula's opinion soon changed as she took a trip to Earth to obtain a present for Rocket. Locating Bucky Barnes, she fought the super soldier and stole his vibranium arm from him, as Rocket had an interest in prosthetics.
Returning to Knowhere, she helped Mantis and Drax, who had kidnapped Kevin Bacon from Earth as a present for Quill, set up Knowhere and decorate it. When Peter came out, Nebula lifted a lever which turned the Christmas lights on. Peter was amazed until he saw that they had kidnapped Bacon. When Mantis released the mind control, Bacon ran. Peter told Nebula to get him and she was already on it, though Peter told her to not kill him.
When they got Bacon back, he wanted to go home, but changed his mind when Kraglin explained how much he meant to him and instead celebrated with the Guardians and people of Knowhere. During the celebrations, Nebula wrapped Bucky's arm and dropped it at Rocket's feet, amazing him when he opened it. Later, Groot gave Nebula a gift, and she opened it to find a wood carving of her witnessing Quill opening up his present, making her happy. In the end, they all hugged Bacon, and as he left, Nebula remarked that not all actors were horrible people.
At some point, Rocket helped upgrade Nebula, removing the hardware around her left eye and building her a new cybernetic arm that could turn into many different objects, giving her a more humanoid look.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3[]
Months later, in 2026, Nebula still resided on Knowhere with the other Guardians and had to help Quill to bed when he drunkingly passed out due to mourning Gamora. When she set him in his bed, Quill sleepily mistook Nebula for her sister, telling her he loved her, to Nebula's sadness, as she was also grieving her sister.
Moments later, Knowhere was then suddenly attacked by Adam Warlock, a Sovereign weapon who wanted to kidnap Rocket to bring him to the High Evolutionary, his creator. He critically injured Rocket and broke Mantis' wrist, but Nebula stabbed him in his back and forced him to retreat. The Guardians couldn't operate on Rocket using Med-Paks because he had an implanted kill switch that would kill him, so Rocket slipped into a coma. Nebula discovered that the implants were made by a company named Orgocorp, so she contacted 2014 Gamora, who had joined the United Ravagers in the last three years, and paid her to help them break into the Orgoscope and save Rocket. As they were on their way to the Orgoscope in the Bowie, 2014 Gamora joined them, and Quill grew mad with Nebula keeping that she had kept contact with her, but she rebuffed him and said she didn't want to freak him out.
When they broke into Orgocorp, the team separated. Mantis and Drax went to find another way out while Peter, 2014 Gamora, and Nebula went to get the kill switch. They took a Krylorian receptionist named Ura captive, and Quill kept trying to flirt with 2014 Gamora, whom he viewed as a replacement for the deceased Gamora. When 2014 Gamora finally had enough and yelled her future self sounded more like Nebula, Peter attempted to flirt with Nebula, but the flirtatious comment came out wrong.
They took the file '89P13', escaped Orgocorp, and discovered that the passkey was taken by Theel, a servant of the High Evolutionary, so they went to the High Evolutionary's planet, Counter-Earth, to see the High Evolutionary and get the passkey. They got help from a Humanimal family on the planet, with Nebula enjoying the offered beverages, and Nebula went with Groot and Peter to the Arête Laboratories, although she was forced to wait outside by War Pig because her cybernetic arm was considered a weapon. She later watched as War Pig flew off, unbeknowst to her so she could kidnap Rocket.
The Arête suddenly started and began to leave Counter-Earth because the High Evolutionary had decided to destroy Counter-Earth and kill the Humanima on it due to its imperfections. At the same time, Mantis and Drax arrived at the ship, because Drax wanted to go help them and he tricked Mantis to join him. Nebula used her comm to tell 2014 Gamora to get herself and Rocket off the planet and, believing Groot and Quill to still be on the ship, jumped onto it with Mantis and Drax. Inside, the trio found themselves surrounded by cages with mutated children locked inside, which the High Evolutionary had created as the new perfect species, having experimented on them from regular fish on Earth.
Quill suddenly called them and said that they escaped from Counter-Earth, annoying Nebula, and were able to save Rocket’s life, to which Nebula wept in relief upon hearing Rocket's voice. Unfortunately, Nebula, Drax and Mantis were discovered by the High Evolutionary and thrown into a pit, with their lives being threatened unless the Guardians brought him Rocket.
The High Evolutionary ordered his guards to open the pit and three Abilisks appeared, but Mantis tamed them with her empathic power and they escaped the pit with their help. They reunited with Peter, Rocket, Groot and 2014 Gamora, who broke into the ship to save them and told them about the children. Together they defeated the henchmen of the High Evolutionary, and Nebula then connected the ship with Knowhere so that the other Guardians could save the children. Rocket stayed behind to also save the caged animals, but was attacked by the High Evolutionary. The Guardians come to his aid and together they defeated the High Evolutionary and saved the animals and the three Abilisks too. Quill nearly died due to space exposure, but a redeemed Adam Warlock saved him, and Nebula was the first to go to him, joining in a massive group hug.
After everything they'd been through, Quill decided to leave the team and go back to Earth to find his remaining family. Nebula decided to leave as well and lead Knowhere, to make it the home she never had, and asked Drax to stay and help her raise all the Star Children. Mantis also chose to leave, to find her own purpose in life, and Quill made Rocket the captain of the new Guardians; nodding at each other, the team saluted each other, and Groot happily expressed his love for them all.
Some time later, Rocket began playing a song over the Knowhere speakers, dancing with Groot and slowly getting everyone else to join in. The Star Children pulled Nebula to dance as well, and although she was hesitant, she eventually began to laugh and danced with the citizens of Knowhere. She yelled in victory and excitement to the sky with the others, no longer burdened by her past and finally able to let go of all her inner hatred.
Personality[]
Trained and raised as a living weapon, Nebula starts off ruthless, cruel, and violent, being described by Taserface as the biggest sadist in the galaxy. This is mainly due to all her pent-up rage and bitterness from her father's abusive treatment of her and him openingly favouring Gamora, who she viewed as a better version of her. Despite her self-proclaimed hatred of Thanos, she at first strives to make him proud and please him despite the fact he had forcibly 'upgraded' her all her life.
However, when Ronan betrayed Thanos, Nebula immediately follows in betraying her father, showing her true hatred for what her father has done to her. When Ronan dies and Nebula flees, she seems to become a bit manic in her desperation to kill her father and sister, shown when she screams insanely while after Gamora and focuses more on besting her in combat than surviving. A more vulnerable side is shown when Nebula opens up to Gamora about all the misery she faced growing up and how Gamora was the only one she ever had, due to not knowing her real family and Thanos being cruel to them both.
This vulnerable side shows up again when Nebula realises Thanos murdered Gamora and mourns her instead of fighting back against Thanos, as well as sitting silently with Rocket as the last two Guardians after the Snap. She also grieved her father despite his treatment of her, as he was the only father she ever had, shown by her shutting his eyes when he died.
Despite this, Nebula also seemed prepared to sacrifice her life if needed, as she tried to stop Gamora from telling Thanos the location of the Soul Stone despite the fact she was being tortured and pulled apart horribly, showing her selflessness.
Nebula later joined the Avengers to help the galaxy, something her past self never would have done if it didn't benefit her directly, as well as participating in the Time Heist and welcoming 2014 Gamora as her sister instantly. She also showed sadness when she was forced to kill her past 2014 self, and displayed empathy for her, knowing exactly how she felt once.
Ultimately, Nebula goes from stoicism and ruthlesness to crying in relief when her friends do not die, and she finally allows herself to open up around the ones she cares for, finding those who truly love her as more than just a weapon.

Trivia[]
- Nebula's appearance in the movie seems to be based more on her second incarnation from the comics.
- Despite showing mostly loyal to Thanos the entire time, Nebula in truth despises him for torturing her, has turned her into a cyborg and using her as a weapon. Her 2014 counterpart, on the other hand, was loyal to Thanos and refused to betray him and did not despise him, which led to her demise by her present self.
- Nebula and Gamora's relationship in Guardians of the Galaxy is similar to Loki and Thor's in the Thor films, with both Nebula and Loki trying to kill Gamora and Thor multiple times before they reconcile, as well as one of their siblings being killed by Thanos in trade for an Infinity Stone. Both also had younger variants of themselves survive due to the Time Heist. Nebula and Loki are also both blue, although Loki's is due to being a Frost Giant and is often hid, and Nebula's is due to her being a Luphomoid.
- Nebula is the only known servant of Thanos (former or current, albeit in her case it's the former) to survive in the present, not counting 2014 Gamora, as she was brought forward from the past and present Gamora died on Vormir.
- Lupita Nyong'o was considered for the role before Karen Gillian was cast.
- Nyong'o was later cast as Nakia in the MCU.
- James Gunn confirmed that Nebula had developed romantic feelings towards Star Lord by the time of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but doesn't confess them due to her being unable to process them emotionally.[1]
