Nera Briscoletti is a character in Dragon Quest V. Starting with the DS remake, she has an older sister named Debora Briscoletti.
Appearance[]
Nera wears a bright white and pink dress. Its qualities show the rich family she comes from. She has long flowing blue hair which is tied by a big pink ribbon.
Personality[]
Nera is obedient to her parents, listening to her father just so he could be happy even if she sometimes disagrees with him. She is known in Mostroferrato as a kind person who is willing to help anyone in need.
As a wife, Nera is kind hearted and faithful to Madason, feeling great happiness when he decides to bring her with him on his journey to search for his mother and constantly praising him.
As a mother, Nera cares deeply for her children, having thoughts that she could not be there for them but she will make it up to them, and constantly worries about them while traveling, as she doesn't want anything bad to happen to them.
Story[]
Madason first meets Nera and Debora on the ship at the start of the game. During the time between the first and second generations, a witch in the town of Fortuna warns her father, Rodrigo Briscoletti, that she is in danger of getting abducted like the other children of noble birth. To prevent the abduction from happening, her parents send her to live in the Abbey of the Aboveall, where she remains until she turns 16 and is sent back home to Mostroferrato.
Nera appears again in the second generation, where Madason catches her runaway dog, Bingo, when he enters Mostroferrato for the first time; she seems to remember Madason. Initially, she protests to her father in picking a husband for her and even tries to dissuade the other suitors from the dangerous mission he presents to them as a condition to marry her but she changes her mind when Madason successfully completes the quest and acquires both the Circle of Water and the Circle of Fire. When she sees that Bianca Whitaker is with Madason, she believes that the former has feelings for him and as such would not feel right in stealing him from her, thus prompting Madason to have to decide between the two.
If Madason chooses Nera to be his wife, she reveals that she is actually infatuated with him and is overjoyed when he picks her. As they journey together, she becomes more confident without losing her loving side and remains by Madason's side during his quest. After they receive Mr. Briscoletti's blessing and he lets them use his ship, they use it to reach the queendom of Helmunaptra. There, Queen Cleohatra reveals that she knows the story of Pankraz and that Madason is actually the Prince of Gotha, so they set out to find his lost home.
Arriving at the town of Battenberg on their way to Gotha, Nera suddenly collapses, but the incident is brushed off as her just being exhausted from the journey and feeling faint due to being so high in the mountains. However when they reach Gotha and she collapses again; it's revealed she is pregnant. She gives birth to twins and reveals that Rodrigo Briscoletti isn't actually her father but that Debora is indeed her real sister. Nera reveals that when they were children, they were told that one of them had the blood of Zenithians and, therefore, they had to be hidden so that the forces of Nadiria could not get to her and stop the birth of the Legendary Hero.
During Madason's coronation, Nera is abducted but before she is taken away, she is able to instruct the children's nanny to hide herself and the children from the kidnappers. Madason sets out to save Nera, but things take a turn for the worst when Ladja, the monster who killed Pankraz, appears and turns the couple into stone statues, in which they remain so for 8 long years.
In the third generation, her stone form is being kept in the temple Madason and other slaves were forced to build for 10 years in slavery. After Madason and her children defeat the temple's priest, they acquire the Ring of Life and using it, they bring Nera back to life where she is reunited with her family after 10 years. The family then goes into Nadiria to save Madason's mother and defeat Grandmaster Nimzo.
If Madason does not pick Nera, she will marry Crispin her childhood friend. She seems a bit saddened, but she nonetheless remains happy for the couple, wishing them the best.
