Agent 3, also known as New Agent 3 to differentiate themselves from the previous Agent 3, is the main protagonist of Splatoon 3. They are a scavenger Inkling/Octoling living in the Splatlands who is recruited by the Cap'n Cuttlefish to remove all of the lethal Fuzzy Ooze surrounding Alterna and bring back the Great Zapfish, all with the help of their salmonid companion, Smallfry.

They eventually face and defeat Mr. Grizz, who planned to terraform the planet with his Fuzzy Ooze and forcibly turn all life on Earth into mammals.

Appearance[]

Like the previous Splatoon protagonists, their appearance is customizable, with the player deciding whether they are an Inkling or an Octoling, what color their eyes are, what hairstyle they have, what pants they were, what the color their skin is, and what clothes they wear.

Biography[]

Agent 3 are a cephalopod recruited into the ranks of the New Squidbeak Splatoon on their expedition into Alterna. They're given the title of Agent 3 by Cuttlefish, as the old one was promoted to being the new captain of the Splatoon after Cuttlefish retired, and is tasked with finding the Great Zapfish, much like previous Agents. After the clearing the levels in the Crater, they are confronted by DJ Octavio, who accuses them of kidnapping his Octarian army.

Following their battle with Octavio, they fall below the Crater and into Alterna, where they meet the current captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, alongside Agents 1 and 2. They task New Agent 3 to find Cuttlefish, who has gone missing. After clearing a few missions, New Agent 3 and the rest of the Splatoon meet Deep Cut, a chaotic trio who host Anarchy Splatcast, and reveal that they search Splatlands for treasure, and attempt to scare the Splatoon from "their turf".

After passing more missions, the new Agent 3 fights all three members of Deep Cut, and receives treasure from them afterwards. All the while, Cuttlefish is revealed to be kidnapped by Mr. Grizz. Marie suggests they should use the treasure they got from Deep Cut to clear all of the lethal Fuzzy Ooze blocking the way to the space center where Cuttlefish and Mr. Grizz are located. The NSS build a lawnmower-like gadget from the treaure that the captain uses to clear away all of the Fuzzy Ooze.

Following this, Deep Cut appear again and tries to threaten the NSS into giving them the treasure. Marie says that they can take it as they are done with it, shocking Deep Cut and causing them to atone for fighting the Splatoon previously, even naming Marie their new boss. After this, New Agent 3, alongside the Smallfry companion, make their way through the Alterna Space Center, and eventually find Cuttlefish lying on the ground, who has been dehydrated and drained by Mr. Grizz, who then appears and tells the New Squidbeak Splatoon his plans to coat Earth in Fuzzy Ooze in order to bring back the mammals, who have all gone extinct.

The captain and the Squid Sisters briefly mourn Cuttlefish's supposed death, before it's revealed he is fine after the captain sheds a tear on his body, albeit stuck in his dry and frail squid form. The Squid Sisters panic and ponder what to do about Mr. Grizz, before Deep Cut show up once more, and helps New Agent 3 get to the rocket that Grizz took off on, with Frye making a pathway using her eels, Shiver lending them her shark Master Mega, and Big Man giving them a space headset.

Once aboard the rocket, Agent 3 briefly fights Mr. Grizz, using several Golden Eggs to power up Smallfry and make it eat the fuzzy ooze on the rocket and on Mr. Grizz's body, before Grizz knocks both of them off the rocket. Luckily, DJ Octavio comes in and saves them in his Octobot Mecha, while the Squid Sisters team up with Deep Cut to perform a new rendition of the Calamari Inkantation, called the Calamari Inkantation 3Mix, which DJ Octavio broadcasts in space to transform Smallfry into the Hugefry thanks to the Inkantation having a magical aura described to be full of "marine-life energy".

Hugefry battles Mr. Grizz to distract him while New Agent 3 uses the vacuum on Octavio's mech to suck in the tumors filled with Fuzzy Ooze on Grizz's body, and afterwards fires the ooze right back at Grizz to defeat him and save the world. Octavio, Agent 3 and Smallfry, who transforms back from Hugefry, all return back to Earth after all marine life on the planet is saved thanks to them, the rest of the New Squidbeak Splatoon and Deep Cut.
