The New Squidbeak Splatoon are major protagonists in the Splatoon franchise. They are a secret organization originally founded by Cap'n Cuttlefish in order to protect Inkopolis and fend off the Octarian army.
They are named after and are the successors to the Squidbeak Splatoon that fought in the Great Turf War, of whom Cuttlefish was also the leader of.

Past[]
An unknown amount of before the first Splatoon, Cap'n Craig Cuttlefish created the New Squidbeak Splatoon, recruiting his granddaughter Callie as Agent 1, who would then go on to recruit her cousin Marie as Agent 2.
Splatoon[]
A young Inkling follows Cap'n Cuttlefish, who was peeping out of a manhole in Inkopolis Plaza, leading them to meet in Octo Valley. Cuttlefish tells them about the Octarians stealing the Great Zapfish, and then recruits them to be Agent 3. Agent 3 would go through several Octarian domes, in turn saving several smaller Zapfishes until Cap'n Cuttlefish is kidnapped by the leader of the Octarians and a former ally of his, DJ Octavio. Because of this, Agent 1 and 2 take his place, guiding Agent 3 and giving them advice. Agent 3 finds Cuttlefish and the Great Zapfish, but Octavio absorbs the latter into his Octobot King machine. Agent 3 and Octavio brawl, until Agent 1 and 2 manage to hack into Octavio's radio station and play the Calamari Inkantation, which distracts Octavio and makes it easier for Agent 3 to defeat him, and thus save Great Zapfish as well as Cuttlefish.
Splatoon 2[]
After the final Splatfest of the first Splatoon, which pitted the two Squid Sisters against each other, Marie found that Callie has mysteriously disappeared, as had the Great Zapfish. With the glass of the snowglobe that kept DJ Octavio captive being shattered, Marie came to conclusion that it was the Octarians' doing once again.
She goes to Inkopolis Square and would meet a new Inkling in Octo Canyon, recruiting them into the New Squidbeak Splatoon as Agent 4, and like her grandfather beforehand, tells Agent 4 about the Octarians who have stolen the Great Zapfish. Much like Agent 3 before them, Agent 4 would go through various Octarian domes and goes on to fight the various Octobosses in the Octarian army. Agent 4 and Marie eventually find Callie in what appears to be some sort of Octarian stadium, and she seems to be on the Octarians' side. DJ Octavio appears and reveals he brainwashed Callie. Agent 4 fights Octavio and Marie manages to knock off the brainwashing sunglasses on Callie's head using her special low-tide ink, leading Callie to come to her senses. With the two Squid Sisters reunited, they sing a remix of the Calamari Inkantatio called the Spicy Calamari Inkantation, which once again distracts Octavio. Agent 4, who had been given a modified version of the Rainmaker by Sheldon, manages to defeat him and recover the Great Zapfish once more.
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion[]
Prior to this DLC pack, Cap'n Cuttlefish and Agent 3 stumble upon a lone Octoling while on a research trip. At Cuttlefish's order, Agent 3 battles this Octoling, leading the three of them to fall into the Deepsea Metro.
When they regain consciousness, the Octoling and Cuttlefish decide to join forces, with Cuttlefish naming them Agent 8 based on the Telephone calling them Number 10,008. Agent 8 would go on to pass several test facilites hosted by Kamabo Co., all the while collecting four 'Thangs' as requested by CQ Cumber. When the Thangs are collected, the Telephone assembles them into a blender and tells Agent 8 and Cuttlefish to go inside, attempting to blend them alive, before Agent 3 enters through the ceiling and tackles the Telephone, freeing both of them, before being knocked unconscious. Agent 8 would escape through the hole Agent 3 made in the ceiling, before coming to an elevator, where they see Cap'n Cuttlefish has been tied up, and that Agent 3 is being mind-controlled by the telephone, with Agent 8 fighting them and after defeating them, freeing them from being controlled. Agent 8 eventually reaches the surface where they, Agent 3 and Cuttlefish are picked up by Off the Hook in their helicopter. The telephone from before appears again in a humanoid statue, revealing its name to be Commander Tartar, and its plans to destroy the world and start over as it was disgusted by the Inklings and Octolings' hedonistic lifestyle. Off the Hook and Agent 8 form a plan to cover the NILS Statue in ink, which would prevent it from charging up a laser to destroy Inkopolis and the world. Tartar tries one last time to destroy everything, before Pearl comes in and counteracts Tartar's laser with her Princess Cannon, defeating it.
Despite being named an agent, it is unclear whether or not Agent 8 is part of the New Squidbeak Splatoon.
Splatoon 3[]
The Great Zapfish is stolen once again, and because of that, Craig Cuttlefish recruits a young Inkling/Octoling to be the new Agent 3 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, as the old one has been promoted to captain following Cuttlefish's retirement. After exploring the Crater for a bit, Cuttlefish and Agent 3 come face-to-face with the former's nemesis, DJ Octavio. Using their Smallfry companion, Agent 3 is able to defeat Octavio. After getting interrogated by Cuttlefish, Octavio reveals he isn't the one who stole the Great Zapfish, before the floor below all of them collapses, leading New Agent 3 and their Smallfry to fall into Alterna, where they meet Agents 1 and 2 and the new Captain. Agents 1 and 2 ask them to help them find Cuttlefish, who has gone missing. Some time after, the New Squidbeak Splatoon meet Deep Cut, who claim the Splatlands as their turf and attempt to threaten the NSS, telling them the treaure of the Splatlands are theirs. which fails due to their goofy nature. New Agent 3 battles and successfully defeats all three members of Deep Cut, and claim pieces of treasure from them. When the NSS realise that Cuttlefish is located on a space center that is blocked with lethal Fuzzy Ooze, Marie suggests they should combine the treasure New Agent 3 received from Deep Cut in order to create a mechanism that can clear away all of the Fuzzy Ooze. They do so, and the Captain uses the machine to cut through the Ooze. Then, Deep Cut appears again and tries to threaten the NSS into giving them the treasure. Marie tells them they can have it since they are finished with it, and her kindness shock Deep Cut, making them feel remorse for previously attacking the Splatoon, and they even name Marie as their new boss, which excites Callie, whereas Marie is less enthusiastic about it. New Agent 3 makes the way through the space center, until the NSS find Cuttlefish body lying on the ground, completely dehydrated and drained. They then meet Mr. Grizz who reveals his plans to cover the planet in Fuzzy Ooze in order to bring back the currently-extinct mammals. The NSS briefly mourn Cuttlefish's death, until the Captain sheds a tear on his body, which revives him, but he is now permanently stuck in his dried-up squid form. Callie points out they aren't out of the woods yet due to Mr. Grizz flying off on a rocket in attempt to coat Earth in Fuzzy Ooze. Marie wonders what to do, until Deep Cut show up once more, Frye and Shiver using their powers to create a pathway to the rocket Grizz took off on, and Big Man giving them a space headset presumably so that they can breathe in space. When they reach the rocket, while New Agent 3 and Smallfry are able to fight Mr. Grizz for a while, Grizz manages to knock them off the rocket. Thankfully, DJ Octavio appears, saving them and, with help from the Squid Sisters and Deep Cut, broadcasts a new remix of the Calamari Inkantation known as the Calamari Inkantation 3Mix, which has a magical aura that is said to be full of "marine-life energy" which allows Smallfry to transform and become the Hugefry. Hugefry battles Mr. Grizz to provide a distraction, while New Agent 3 and Octavio focus on using the Ink Vac to suck up the tumors filled with Fuzzy Ooze on Grizz's body to weaken him and gain power, before finally blasting Grizz with the ooze to defeat him. After Grizz is defeated, Hugefry tranforms back into Smallfry and it, alongside New Agent 3 and DJ Octavio return back to Earth.

- Craig Cuttlefish: The founder, senior advisor and former captain of the Splatoon.
- Callie: The first agent of the Splatoon, and the granddaughter of Craig Cuttlefish, whom recruited her. She gets temporarily kidnapped and brainwashed by the Octarians, before Agents 2 and 4 rescue her.
- Marie: The second agent and the other granddaughter of Craig Cuttlefish, and cousin of Callie, the latter of whom recruited her. Her and Agent 1 serve as the mentors for both Agent 3s when Cuttlefish disappears.
- Captain: The current captain of the Splatoon after Cuttlefish retired, initially recruited to the New Squidbeak Splatoon under the title of Agent 3 by Cuttlefish to find the Great Zapfish.
- Agent 4: The fourth agent of the Splatoon, recruited by Marie/Agent 2 to retrieve the Great Zapfish from the Octarians and to find her missing cousin callie.
- New Agent 3: The second Agent 3 after the previous onebecomes Captain, recruited by Craig Cuttlefish to investigate the Octarians and find the Great Zapfish after it goes missing for the third time.
- Smallfry: The new Agent 3's companion, it helps them explore the Splatlands by eating any Fuzzy Ooze that blocks the way after being powered up by Power Eggs, and helps in stopping Mr. Grizz from covering planet Earth in Fuzzy Ooze.
Associates[]
These people are ones that are allied with (or have worked with) the New Squidbeak Splatoon, but aren't outright members themselves.
- Sheldon: Helps Agent 4 on their mission by providing them a supply of different weapons, drives a floating truck allowing Marie to use her Hero Charger to shoot the Hypnoshades Callie is wearing, freeing her from Octavio's brainwashing, and supplies Agent 4 with a modified version of the Rainmaker to help them defeat DJ Octavio.
- Agent 8: An ally of Craig Cuttlefish, working with him to escape the Deepsea Metro. They fight Agent 3 and manage to free them from being mind-controlled by Commander Tartar, and, with help from Off the Hook, stops Tartar from destroying Inkopolis and the rest of the world.
- Off the Hook: This music duo helps Cap'n Cuttlefish and Agent 8 reach the surface by giving the latter advice, and helps in foiling Tartar's plans of destroying the world.
- Pearl: She helps defeat Tartar by using her Princess Cannon to stop Tartar's laser from destroying Inkopolis.
- Marina Ida: She helps defeat Tartar by deducing a plan to stop it, dropping her Hyperbombs that are full of ink all over the NILS Statue so that Agent 8 can detonate them, and telling Pearl to get her voice ready in order to prepare for counteracting Tartar's laser.
- Deep Cut: This chaotic trio initially appear as rivals to the Splatoon, before making amends with them. They help the New Squidbeak Splatoon defeat Mr. Grizz by using their powers to form a pathway to the rocket Grizz took off, allowing New Agent 3 to reach him. They later sing the Calamari Inkantation 3Mix alongside the Squid Sisters that powers up Smallfry and makes it able to transform into Hugefry so it can fight Grizz to provide a distraction.
- Shiver: She helps the New Agent 3 reach Mr. Grizz by lending them her shark Master Mega so they can ride it along the path of eels Frye made.
- Frye: She helps New Agent 3 reach Mr. Grizz by using her eels to create a path to the rocket Grizz took off on.
- Big Man: He provides the New Agent 3 with a space helmet/headset, making them able to breathe in space while they fight Mr. Grizz.
- DJ Octavio: Despite having a grudge against the Inklings for countless years and being the Splatoon's main archnemesis as he stole the Great Zapfish in the first two story modes, he teams up with them to stop Mr. Grizz from coating Earth in his Fuzzy Ooze, by saving New Agent 3 and Smallfry after Grizz knocks them into space, broadcasting the Calamari Inkantation 3Mix in space which allows Smallfry to transform into Hugefry, and lets New Agent 3 pilot his Octobot King mecha to use its vacuum to suck up the ooze-covered furballs on Grizz's body and later use the ooze to defeat Grizz.
