~ Nick

Nick Rice is the main antagonist of the 2009 movie Law Abiding Citizen. He is an official who was sent to stop Clyde Shelton's murderous rampage after making a deal with the vile murderer and pedophile Clarence Darby.

He was portrayed by Jamie Foxx.

Personality[]

Nick is a very selfish person, making a deal with Clarence Darby just so the latter can get back onto the streets committing crimes and ruining lives (mainly Clyde Shelton's for that matter). He was also the one who made the deal with Clarence who killed Clyde's wife and daughter in the first place. Despite this, Nick still has some compassion and dignity in himself, choosing to stop Clyde Shelton and save many innocent people from their fear of Clyde.

He is also somewhat selfless, given that he stopped Clyde from bombing City Hall while hundreds of people were inside. This proves that Nick is willing to risk his life just to keep others safe to an extent.

Heroic acts[]

  • He tells Clyde that it would have been useless to convict Clarence and Ames as they might have gone free if he tried to convict them.
  • He tries to sympathize with Clyde during his killing spree and states that he's done with making deals with murderers and criminals, something he taught him the hard way.
  • He moved the bomb that targeted City Hall to Clyde's cell, which saved hundreds of lives in the process.
  • He interrogates Clyde and asks him why he tortured and killed Clarence Darby, though it was because Clarence and Nick made a deal with each other to have Clyde's wife and daughter killed and even raped.

Trivia[]

  • Nick is overarching antagonist of the movie, given that if he didn't make a deal with Clarence Darby, the events of the movie wouldn't have happened.
