Nick Tilsley is a major protagonist in British Soap Opera Coronation Street. He is the son of Brian Tilsley and Gail Platt. After Brian was murdered when he was 8 years old Nick started to act out but Gail's boyfriend Martin had a calming affect. Nick later began a relationship with Leanne Battersby which his family disliked and would cause many problems for him in his life.
Biography[]
When Nick met his father's killer Darren Whateley during his humanities class at College he then tried to get revenge in a plot that involved writing letters to him in Leanne's name. This resulted in Darren threatening Leanne and Nick having to save her which badly affected the relationship as Leanne was angry at Nick for putting her in danger.
When Leanne got pregnant Nick convinced her to get an abortion and lie that she miscarried. This ended the relationship. Nick left for Canada but returned in 2003. He then got a job at Mike Baldwin's factory where Leanne's stepmother Janice Battersby made fun of him. Nick then planted alcohol in her bag to get her fired but then saved her when she set the place on fire and was praised for a hero.
Nick dated Maria Sutherland but Leanne manipulated them into breaking up as revenge for Maria betraying her stepsister Toyah by sleeping with her boyfriend John Arnley. Nick then left but returned in 2009 and bought a share of Underworld from Carla Connor. He later ended the relationship and started his own bar, The Joinery.
Nick began an affair with Leanne and then made friends with her boyfriend Peter Barlow to annoy her after she ended it. After an explosion that left Peter crippled Nick manipulatively encouraged him back to drink. At Peter and Leanne's blessing Nick was humiliated when Peter revealed everything. Peter forgave Leanne though and they reconciled.
Nick and Leanne would then get back together following Peter's affair with Carla. When Nick found out Leanne had been considering taken Peter back he had a drunken one-night stand with his half brother David's wife Kylie . Nick and Leanne then made up but things got complicated when Kylie got pregnant and Nick feared he was the father. David began a hate campaign against him. David tried to stop Nick from telling everyone when he discovered it and gave him brain damage which landed him in a coma. The family disowned David when this was discovered but ultimately forgave him with Nick even helping him and Kylie reconcile.
When Nick lashed out at Leanne's stepson Simon Barlow he was horrified and cut of his relationship with them for their own good.
In 2015 Nick dated Carla and tried to get her help for her gambling addiction. Their relationship ultimately ended as a result of her infidelity with Robert Preston and her unintentionally hitting Cathy Matthews while trying to knock down Tracy Barlow who had blackmailed her.
Nick reconciled with Leanne and stood by her even after learning she was pregnant with Steve McDonald's child . When the truth came out to everyone Nick and Steve argued over how much contact Steve should have with his son Oliver. In an effort to mend things everyone went out on a day to the beach where it came out that Nick had saw Peter on the night his father Ken was attacked and could have gave him an alibi but chose not to. Nick got mad with Leanne's disgust ad walked off. He almost drowned in quicksand but his life was saved by Peter and Steve. Nick then left after feeling he didn't deserve Leanne because of his manipulative behaviour.
Nick returned after Leanne was in a car accident but it transpired that he had gotten married to his wife Elsa and stolen money from her. He then stole from his grandmother Audrey Roberts which David found out about but then agreed to keep quiet so they could open a barber's shop together. During this time Nick helped David's girlfriend Shona Ramsey who was having problems with her son Clayton being beat up in prison.
When the truth came out Nick lied that David had orchestrated it but came clean which unfortunately didn't stop David from getting a worse punishment. When Oliver became sick and had to be taken off life support. Things were hard for Nick during this time as shortly before Oliver's death he discovered his son Sam Blakeman from a previous relationship with Sam's mother Natasha who Leanne resented at first though the three later became close family unit.
