Nindroids are a major character faction featured in the animated series, LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. They are humanoid robots styled after Zane, the current Elemental Master and Ninja of Ice. So far, all known models are based on the design created by Dr. Julien.
History[]
The first known Nindroid was Zane, who was built in Dr. Julien's Hidden Workshop. Initially a blank slate, Zane learned new skills from his creator, who gradually came to see the Nindroid as a surrogate son. Before passing away of old age, Dr. Julien deactivated Zane's "Memory Switch" to spare him the pain of losing a loved one, causing Zane to believe himself to be an orphan. Eventually, Zane discovered his true heritage and reactivated his Memory Switch, coming to terms with his past and unlocking his True Potential.
An army of Nindroids acts as the main antagonistic faction of the 2014 Ninjago: Rebooted season. These Nindroids are created at Borg Tower to take over Ninjago City, led by General Cryptor. They were created by Cyrus Borg following his possession by the Digital Overlord, using Zane's blueprints (as scanned by Pixal). Many of them, including Cryptor and Min-droid, are destroyed when Zane sacrifices himself to stop the Overlord.
In Tournament of Elements they return, reprogrammed as Cyrus Borg's Security Droids and also part of Lloyd's training program, although two Nindroids are shown to be imprisoned for their crimes.
In Skybound, a new Nindroid model, Nindroid Sentry, is introduced, tasked with guarding the Realm Crystal. Sentries attempt to stop Nadakhan from stealing the crystal but fail. While hiding from Nadakhan in the Lighthouse Prison, Jay and Nya meet Echo Zane, a second version of Zane created by Julien during his imprisonment. Due to Jay's final wish, these events were erased from existance.
In Day of the Departed, General Cryptor and three Nindroid Warriors are resurrected during the Ying-Yang Eclipse and attempt to kill Zane so that Cryptor can take his place among the living, but Zane ultimately defeats his clones.
In Sons of Garmadon, one of the high-ranking members of the "Sons of Garmadon" biker gang, Mr. E, is revealed to be a Nindroid. He is falsely theorized by Zane to be the Quiet One.
In Prime Empire, Cyrus Borg deploys several Nindroid Sentries to fight the Kryptarium Prison escapees who are invading the Borg Tower.
