Noelle Silva, also known as the Sea Goddess, is the tritagonist of the Black Clover franchise.
Noelle Silva was the fourth-born child of the Clover Kingdom's House Silva, and a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight Squad. Due to her lack of control over her magic, she was ostracized by her family, often tormented her for her lack of control and supposedly being the cause of her mother Acier Silva's demise.
She is voiced by Kana Yūki in Japanese and by Jill Harris in English. Harris has also voiced Fern in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Yuzuriha in Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku, Suletta Mercury in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, Mandalay in My Hero Academia, and Charlie Morningstar in the pilot of Hazbin Hotel.
Biography[]
Noelle is a silver-haired royal from the prestigious House of Silva, as well as a member of the Black Bulls. Befitting her upbringing, she can come off as arrogant and cold at times. She eventually develops romantic feelings for Asta but is in denial about them.
As the youngest daughter of the late Acier Silva — and the youngest sister to Nozel Silva, Nebra Silva and Solid Silva — Noelle has incredible magical potential with Noelle using Water Magic. Unfortunately for her, she lacks fine control, resulting in collateral damage and being mocked by her own family. As a result, Noelle has veered towards defensive magic, mostly protective bubbles.
Personality[]
Due to having been rejected by her own family who had noticed her lack of control over her Magic Power, Noelle developed a crippling inferiority complex to her more accomplished older brother Solid and older sister Nebra. This inferiority complex leads Noelle to try and prove them wrong to the point where she'll overexert herself during training. Additionally, she is skeptical of the people around her since she expects them to react the same way that her family did. She is also rather modest, as she is mortified when she realizes her shirt is torn, showing her breasts slightly after the dungeon mission and is also slightly embarrassed wearing her bikini at the beach.
Thanks to the Black Bulls, mainly Asta and his influence, she slowly begins to have more confidence in herself. This slowly gives birth to a more courageous side where she is even willing to go against opponents like Vetto and her own brother, Solid. This confidence, courage, and kindness shapes Noelle a strong resolve to protect those she cares for, which creates a more selfless side to her personality.
While her personality improves, her nobility and pride causes her to not always be honest with herself. The biggest example is her big crush towards Asta and how she tries to brush it off. As the story keeps going, she falls even more for him, but she is still very reluctant to express those feelings.
Power and Abilities[]
As the second daughter and third child of the Silva Household, Noelle has vast magic and latent abilities, but she lacked control to the point of being viewed as a failure. But, she continued working hard to control her magic after joining the Black Bulls, which allowed her to become stronger than before, allowing her to fight against the reborn elves and the Apostles of Sephirah. Due to her latent abilities, hard work, and experience, Noelle has proven to be capable of keeping up with Asta and Yuno Grinberryall.
Water Magic: Noelle's magic attribute, which allows her to generate and control water. Before receiving her grimoire, her water magic was strong enough to cause damage to the area around her.
- True Water Magic: After learning the Mana Method from the Heart Kingdom, Noelle can use it to generate and manipulate real water.
- Sea Dragon's Water Ball: Noelle creates several swirling water spheres at her opponent, which has enough force to create craters or send opponent backwards.
Creation Magic: Noelle uses this form of magic to shape objects and entities from water.
- Sea Dragon's Nest: She creates a water dome composed of several whirlwools, which is able to surround herself and others capable of defending several attacks from all directions without breaking.
- Sea Dragan's Cradle: She creates an enormous smooth water shere around herself and others, which has watery globs around it, letting her transport herself and others through even strong magic enviornment.
- Sea Dragon's Roar: She creates the head of an enormous sea dragon before firing it off at her opponents, which has proven powerful enough to tear off the arm of Vetto, one of the Apostles of Sephirah and defeating several opponents in a single hit.
- Valkyrie Dress: Noelle creates a suit of armor made of compressed water around herself, which has wings, armed with a lance made of spiraling water. It has proven a great assist to her on the battlefield granting her almost unmatched flight, speed, and maneuverability in the air, which can allow her to drill through opponents using the lance and manifest other spells such as her Sea Dragon's Roar.
- Mermaid Form: This is a variation of the Valkyrie Dress, which was developed for underwater combat, removing most of the upper armor aside from the aside from what covers her chest and shoulders, which granting her a fish-like tail. As such, it allows Noelle to move faster underwater, but removed her defenses, focusing more on offense and speed.
- Point-Blank Sea Dragon's Roar: This is a spell, where Noelle releases a Sea Dragon's Roar at point-blank range in front of her opponent.
Reinforcement Magic: Noelle uses this form of magic to increase her physical abilities.
Spirit Magic: As a user of one of the four major elements, Noelle was chosen by one of the four great elemental spirits, the Water Spirit, Undine and became her host. As such, she can summon Undine to assist her in battle through increasing the strength of her magic power or spells, which has allowed her to match the strongest of opponents. Using it, Noelle reached the Saint Stage Mage class, allowing her to purify malice and devils.
- Spirit Dive: Saint Valkyrie Dress: Noelle's completed Spirit Dive, which appears to be an improved version of her Valkyrie Dress, gaining a small crown with a halo, two large wings feathered on her lower back, and wielding a smoother water lance.
Immense Magic Power: As a royal, Noelle has immense magic power, despite lacking control over it, her magic power has generated massive amounts of water and shook the entire Seabed Temple after releasing it against Vetto. After learning to control her magic power, and when focusing on offense, Noelle has proven capable of matching elves, the most notable being Fana, one of the Apostles of Sephirah. Arriving in her Heart Kingdom, she was ranked as a Stage One Mage, and likely became stronger through training in there for six months.
Mana Method: In the Heart Kingdom, Noelle learned their Mana Method, which allows her to increase the size and power of spell through forming natural mana into runes, as well as giving instructions to her spells.
Ultimate Magic: After training under the Dyrad, Noelle learned the elves' technique for fully embodying her magic, which is possible due to her useage of the Heart Kingdom's mana method.
Spirit Assimlation: As a Spirit Host, Noelle can assilmiate Undine into herself, however, due to the short amount of time as one, she hasn't mastered it yet.

- Noelle can be considered a mixture of Yuno Grinberryall and Asta. As a Royal, she has vast mana and latent, however, she needed to work harder than Royals and Nobles in an attempt to control it, resulting in her remarkable progression.
- Noelle is likely to be of Italian descent. Silvia is an Italian surname.
