Elder Nolan McNamara is a supporting character in the 2010 action role-playing game Fallout: New Vegas. He is the current Elder of the Mojave chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel, having saved the chapter after Father Elijah abandoned them at HELIOS One.
He is Voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Biography[]
Background[]
Nolan was originally the Head paladin of the chapter when Father Elijah was the elder. During the NCR-Brotherhood war and failure of Operation Sunburst Nolan Fought against the NCR. Nolan broke though the lines of the NCR in order to lead the surviving members to safety while Elijah vanished during the fighter. After this he was credited with saving the member from totally annihilation earning the loyalty and respect of the whole chapter. Nolan became the elder shortly after. Nolan found out about the hidden bunkers of hidden valley and made the new main base of the Brotherhood of steel, Fear being hunted down by the NCR Nolan put the bunker on lock-down so only certain members were allowed to leave. This decision was controversial which led to the new head paladin Edgar Hardin seek to usurp Nolan as Elder.

Still in the Dark[]
After The Courier finds the bunker where the brotherhood is located Paladin Ramos will take the Courier to see Elder McNamara. Nolan questions him about how he found them after the courier tells Nolan about how they found them Nolan then says they have a use for an outsider. Nolan then tasks the Courier to deal with a NCR rangers that set up camp in another bunker. The Courier can accomplish this in many ways but Nolan has the best response if it is done without killing the ranger. After this is done Nolan lets the Courier to come and go in the bunker as he please and gives a new assignment. This one is recover and discovered what happened to three investigation teams he sent out. All three teams were dead but there Mission Holotapes were still intaked. Nolan is saddened by the news but thanks the courier for retrieve the Holotapes. Nolan second task for the Courier is to check on three scouts that are doing recon on NCR locations, after getting said reports he is surprised that the NCR are does not have as much control in the region as he thought like the NCR losing Nelson and correctional facility. After completing this mission Nolan believes the courier can help with retrieve the necessary parts for fixing the Bunker's air filtration system he sends The courier to speak with Knight Lorenzo about where find said parts. After finding the parts and handing them to Lorenzo The Courier will then again speck with Nolan. When the Courier returns to Nolan he gratefully thanks him for saving the brotherhood and relieves the NCR are not as in control as he thought. Nolan states that he will lift the lock down and right the wrongs he had done. He then gives the Courier a key for the brotherhood safe house.
Eyesight to the Blind[]
The Courier can ask Nolan after to join the brotherhood after completing Still in the Dark. Nolan says that they have helped more then enough to be able to join but still has to do one more task. Nolan sends the Courier to bug the Black mountain radio because of the mutants are becoming more violent. After the radio is bugged Nolan thanks The Courier and grants the Courier the title of Paladin of the Brotherhood of Steel. Nolan also gives the Courier a pair of power armor as well as teaching him how to use it,
I Could Make You Care[]
Veronica wants to make some changes for the brotherhood after seeing how other local factions have adapted. Veronica goes to Nolan about how staying isolated would only harm the brotherhood but Nolan wouldn't listen. After Veronica finds a special piece of tech she goes to Nolan to try and finally convince him and while he agrees that the Brotherhood's isolationism will be it's downfall, he refuses to budge due to his strict adherence to the codex.
For the Republic 2[]
After Cassandra Moore sends the Courier to destroy the brotherhood. The Courier could instead inform Nolan about Moore's order Nolan then says he will say that he is willing to go into a truce with the NCR and Send troops to help defend hoover dam
