Nomes are supporting characters in the horror platform video game series Little Nightmares. They are small skittish creatures who struggle to survive in the harsh world they inhabit.

History

Little Nightmares

Nomes can be seen scurrying around in various locations aboard The Maw. If Six can find their hiding spots, she can show her affection for the Nomes by hugging them. The more Nomes Six hugs throughout her journey, the more Nomes will appear at the end of the game as she escapes The Maw. Unfortunately, Six resorts to eating a Nome to satisfy her hunger pains at The Guest Area.

In the Secrets of the Maw DLC, the Nomes play a prominent role in The Hideaway chapter. They encounter the Runaway Kid as he is trying escape The Maw and assist him in removing obstacles he cannot pass himself. They then try to start a large furnace using a pile of coals while the Runaway Kid gathers more Nomes to help them. Eventually, a conveyor of trollies starts to move which the Runaway Kid uses to find a hidden room full of Nomes enjoying the warmth of the furnace as their shadows reveal that they were once regular children.

During The Residence chapter, the Runaway Kid is caught by The Lady who turns him into a Nome, preventing his escape from The Maw. The Runaway Kid only makes it as far as The Guest Area before it is revealed that he is the same Nome who Six devours.

Very Little Nightmares

Nomes help The Girl in the Yellow Raincoat try to escape The Nest by breaking, pushing or opening obstacles to proceed. They are shown to be more playful in this game and are usually found in hidden areas doing various activities. The protagonist can also follow them to find Jack-in-the-boxes.

Little Nightmares II

Only one Nome appears in The Hunter's Residence during The Nome's Attic DLC. Mono must help a Nome through the darkness of The Hunter's Attic. If he does so, the Nome will reward him with Nomes cap to wear.

Little Nightmares III

Nomes appear during The Carnevale chapter where Low and Alone must find their hiding spots and light a furnace to keep them warm. In thanks, A Nome will give them an energy cell they need to restore power to the surrounding area. A Nome can later be found trapped inside a bottle which has to be broken so it can distract The Kin for Low and Alone to safely proceed. Unfortunately, the Nome is eventually cornered by The Kin who snap its neck. Nomes can be found hidden throughout out The Carnevale chapter and hugging them will count to the game file's percentage.
