Nosecone (ノーズコーン Nōzukōn, ノーズコン Nōzukon) is a supporting character in The Transformers franchise, especially Generation One.
He was voiced by David Workman.
History[]
Cartoon[]
Nosecone was introduced in the late third season episode "Grimlock's Brain", when he and the other Technobots were created by Grimlock, whose intelligence had been temporarily enhanced by an accident. Nosecone used his drilling abilities to force a tunnel through the head of Unicron and stop Galvatron and the Terrorcons from exploiting it.
Nosecone had a prominent role in the subsequent episode "Money is Everything", in which the Technobots were assigned by Rodimus Prime to work with Marissa Faireborn defending the solar system. After helping save Scattershot and Strafe from Hun-Gurr, he and the others were informed by roguish trader Dirk Manus of a Quintesson base in the solar system. Dirk ended up taking Marissa hostage and handing the Technobots over to the Quintessons and Terrorcons, but used a recreator to dissolve the Technobots and then return them repaired, allowing them to triumph.
Nosecone was among those infected by the Hate Plague in "The Return of Optimus Prime" and among those defending Cybertron from the Decepticons in "The Rebirth", witnessing the beginning of the new Golden Age.
Comics[]
Nosecone first appeared in the Headmasters miniseries among the Autobots who accompanied Fortress Maximus to Nebulos in search of a quiet life. This failed when Scorponok's Decepticons followed them there, with Nosecone joining the other Technobots, plus Headmasters Brainstorm and Hardhead in defending a Nebulan city from the Horrorcons and Terrorcons.
He joined the main comic in Issue #41, when Fortress Maximus' group joined up with the Earth Autobots led by Grimlock. In the subsequent Underbase Saga, he was among those deactivated by Starscream after the Decepticon had absorbed the power of the Underbase.
In Marvel UK's post-movie storyline, Nosecone appeared in "Space Pirates" as part of a team led by Ultra Magnus who protected Cybertron from a Quintesson assault. In "Peace", he was among the Autobots who celebrated the conclusion of the war with the Decepticons only for an argument between the Technobots and Wreckers over who should lead them to escalate into a new war.
Personality[]
Unlike the other Technobots, who tended to be hotheaded, Nosecone tended to be slow and ponderous, carefully thinking out each decision. This resulted in him often being ignored by his comrades and having to accompany them anyway. Despite this, they, along with other Autobot, respect his effectiveness when it comes to tear down Decepticon's fortification..

Primary function: Assault Vehicle[]
Abilities[]
- In his drill tank mode, Nosecone lacks speed but his treads help him travel across any terrain and up the steepest slopes. Nosecone's most distinctive feature in this mode is also his most formidable asset: his durabyllium-steel alloy drill is durable & strong enough to shred all but most material used for fortification.
- Nosecone has significant strength & above average intelligence along with immense endurance & resistance to damage. He has significant skill & he's also known to be extremely methodical & precise for his skill despite the cost of making himself lazy sometimes.
- He becomes one of the limbs (mostly the left leg) for the gestalt form of the team - Computron. He provides methodicalness for processing of the combiner.
Arsenal: Nosecone has significantly above average firepower[]
- In his drill tank mode, Nosecone has 2 rocket-propelled missiles that can use visual tracking technology to lock on to targets. Additionally, his durabyllium-steel drill can be used to shred an enemy fortification like Swiss cheese.
- In his robot mode, Nosecone uses a high-powered X-ray laser pistol.
Weaknesses[]
- Even though Nosecone is well-armored & his drill is incredibly durable, his treads (probably to assure smooth movement) aren't. This tends to leave him immobile unless he switches to robot mode. He also has a tendency to overheat while drilling through very dense substances.
- Nosecone's slowness (in both vehicle's speed & his reaction) often make him prone to danger & significantly affect his mission when he's under a Decepticon artillery barrage despite his tough armor.
