Nova is the main human protagonist of the 2017 film War for the Planet of the Apes.
Nova is the adopted human daughter of Maurice and the human ally of Caesar.
Nova is portrayed by Amiah Miller.
Personality[]
Nova is a mute little girl with a strong, kind heart. At first, she was frightened by the apes. But as she begins to travel with them, Nova sees the ape army's good side and quickly learns one of their most important laws, "Apes Together Strong." Nova has a strong bond with her adopted ape father, Maurice. When Caesar and his apes are being held prisoners, Nova is the only one who shows them compassion and kindness as they did for her. She is also very brave in many situations, like helping the apes, who are starving and help them escape.
War for the Planet of the Apes[]
Nova was infected by a new version of the Simian Flu. As a result, she can not speak. After Caesar shot her caretaker, Nova was adopted by Maurice because the orangutan could not leave her alone, as she would probably die. Maurice loved her dearly and treated her like an orangutan.
Nova joins Caesar's ape group to find the Alpha-Omega soldiers. During the journey, Nova was befriended by Luca, who gave her a flower. After Luca was killed by a human soldier, she returned the flower to him. Caesar left his group to face McCullough alone. Caesar was captured by Red and McCullough, who intends to exploit the apes to build a wall.
Nova enters the field, and she nourishes and quenches Caesar, now exhausted because of the torture he received. She also gives her doll to Caesar, which is later confiscated by McCullough, who becomes infected too because of Nova's blood. After the end of the war between humans and apes, Nova remains with Caesar's ape colony. She is seen playing with Cornelius while Caesar died after telling Maurice that the apes are strong with or without him. Nova is also proof that the co-existence between humans and apes is possible.

Trivia[]
- Nova's name is either a reference to a namesake, who was Taylor's female companion in the original first two Planet of the Apes films, or indicates she is the reboot timeline version of the character.
- It was originally speculated that an adult version of her would've been portrayed by Freya Allan for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. However, this was disputed and instead, portrays a newer character named Mae.
