Nu is a supporting character in the comedy dark fantasy light novel, manga, and anime series The Eminence in Shadow. She is a number member of Shadow Garden. Upon joining the organization, she climbed the ranks from No. 93 to a No. 13, now also working as a bodyguard and assistant of Gamma of the Seven Shadows.
She is voiced by Maaya Uchida in Japanese and by Cat Thomas in English.
Appearance[]
Nu is a slender young woman with long brown hair and eyes. As a member of the Shadow Garden, she usually sports the slime body uniform that is a black orned with numerous gold linings.
In her duty as a Mitsugoshi Company worker, she is in a formal attire. She adorns herself in a stylish ensemble, featuring a collared V-neck, a deep blue mini-one piece layered atop a white dress, and completes the look with stockings paired with high heels.
Personality[]
While on duties, Nu acts stern and composed. She expresses very her deep loyalty and even a romantic interest in Shadow similarly like the majority Shadow Garden members, who have their life drastically changed thanks to him. She expresses gratitude to Shadow for granting her freedom and exhibits open hostility towards anyone causing harm or mock him. Nu is not hesitant to resort to extreme measures, including killing, to protect Cid's true identity.
Nu presents herself as a dutiful and hardworking young lady, always wearing a beautiful smile while interacting with superiors and customers. However, beneath this facade lies a dark side, revealing her ruthlessness and cruelty towards enemies, particularly those who offend her beloved master, Shadow. She doesn't shy away from sadistically torturing adversaries to make them realize the consequences of their actions. Her loyalty would go as far as to even take the life of her own fiancé to keep Shadow's identity safe.
Background[]
In her earlier life as a young noble girl, Nu exhibited compliance and obedience, dutifully following her family's directives. Despite the constraints of control in her childhood, she found moments of contentment through small joys. Remarkably even currently, she retains onto some memories of her previous life.
Abilities[]
Nu is highly talented, having been able to swiftly climb up to where she is in the organiation, to the point where the second-in-command of the whole organization, Alpha approved her capabilities.
- Swordsmanship: Like most members of the organization, Nu is trained in swordsmanship. She can be skilled enought to fend off enemies in missions alongside her comrades.
- Skilled Fighter: She demonstrates the ability to disarm an opponent without shifting from her stance during battle. While Nu may not rival Gamma in intellect when serving as her assistant, she surpasses Gamma as a fighter. Nu is assigned to handle all of Gamma's fights due to Gamma's extreme clumsiness in coordination and technique when harnessing her formidable power. She is capable of achieving all this despite lacking the immense strength and mana reserves of the upperranks.
- Master of Disguise: Out of all Shadow Garden members, she can be considered as the most skilled when it comes to disguise, allowing her to explore enemy territories without much struggle typically.

- Her name is the twelve letter of the Greek Alphabet "Ν v" because she is currently the thirteen member of the organization.
- Nu is the first human to be saved and recruited into the organization, as revealed in the game of the series.
- Nu is actually the second human to be cured of Demon Possesion, the first human to be cured of Demon Possession is Claire Kagenou.
- She also symbolizes that humans that have fallen in possession can be cured.
