Background[]
Octavia is one of the orginal delinquents sent to Earth by the Ark. She's also Bellamy's sister. In space, she learned to hide from being floated because it was forbidden to have more than one child for reasons of survival. During season five, she becomes the cruel ruler of the Second Dawn Bunker, renaming herself Bloodreina.
History[]
In flashbacks, we see the birth of Octavia and all of her years of hiding not to be found. However, she eventually gets caught and is sent to Earth with Bellamy and other teenagers. There, she only wants to do whatever she wants but Bellamy gets overprotective to her. She then meets Clarke, Finn, Jasper and Monty and go to Mount Weather with them to get food. As Octavia was bathing in a river, she's attacked by a giant aquatic snake and is saved by Jasper. The latter being impaled by a spear, the group quickly goes back to the dropship to warn the others. For the remainder of season one, Octavia assisted Clarke with treating the wounded and sick and formed a relationship with a Grounder, Lincoln. Together, they try to find a solution to avoid a war between the Sky People and the Grounders.
In season two, Octavia is taken by Lincoln to heal her after she was injured in a fight with the Grounders. She then meets Indra and the rest of the Grounders and agrees to be trained by Indra. From there, she learns to fight with a sword and increasingly adopts an aggressive and savage attitude. She also begins a deep romance with Lincoln.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Charles Pike, in season three, becomes Arkadia's new Chancellor and breaks the Sky People's alliance with the other clans on the ground. Additionally, Bellamy betrays Octavia and his friends by blindly following Pike and serving as his right hand. The latter locks up some Grounders and those who refuse to obey him, including Lincoln. The latter trying to escape and condemned to death and executed by Pike who shoots him in the head, while Octavia observes the scene in the woods. Devastated, she fatally strikes Bellamy who joins her and severely blames him for Lincoln's death. Later in the season, Octavia goes to a platform in the ocean with Clarke, Bellamy and Jasper to find Luna and hope she helps them defeat an artificial intelligence, A.L.I.E.
In season four, Octavia is tasked by King Roan to find the one who stole the Flame and she then meets Gaia, Indra's daughter. She also meets Ilian, a Trishanakru warrior who blows up Arkadia and decides to execute him herself. Thanks to Kane telling her that she will become like Pike who executed Lincoln, Octavia bursts into tears and leaves the camp. She also participates in the conclave in which Ilian, Roan and Luna die. As Praimfaya, a deadly wave of radiation approaches, Octavia goes to the Second Dawn bunker found by Jaha and desires all the clans to be there for everyone's safety.
In season five, she quickly takes control of the scene and assassinates anyone who does not ally with Wonkru, the new clan that Octavia is creating. In order to reduce the population in the bunker, she organizes battles where several participants must fight and only one must survive. She also learns of the arrival of Eligius IV's prisoner and declares war on them. Octavia also meets Madi, Clarke's adopted daughter who is a Nightblood and becomes her trainer. Later in the season, Octavia gets as many people as possible into McCreary's ship and helps Abby transport Kane, injured earlier by Vinson one of the cannibalistic prisoners. While waiting for Earth to be habitable again, everyone is placed in cryogenic sleep and Octavia blames herself for her actions in the bunker and asking for Bellamy's forgiveness. The latter only replies that he loves part of his sister and wants the other part to be dead before activating Octavia's sleep.
In season six, Clarke and their friends discover a seemingly livable new planet thanks to Monty, now dead of old age after wanting to live a normal life aboard Eligius IV with Harper. Bellamy prefers that Octavia stays asleep so that she doesn't interfere with their pacifistics intentions. However, she is still awakened by Niylah and confronts Abby and Kane for their actions in the bunker. But for her part, Octavia blames herself for her own crimes and then descends on Sanctum with Abby and Raven to find her brother. She reminds him that she is not there to protect him but that she simply wants to help recover the Gagarin ship. On the planet, Octavia is with Diyoza and meets Gabriel and his "children". At the end of the season, Octavia disappears into the Anomaly, a transit system connecting Sanctum with other planets.
In season seven, we learn that Octavia has traveled through the Anomaly and that she has lived part of her life alongside Charmaine and her daughter Hope Diyoza. After which, she and Diyoza were taken by Disciples to Bardo to prepare them for the Last War. Upon reuniting with Clarke, she poses as a staunch follower of the Disciples along with Diyoza and Echo, and witnesses in horror the death of Diyoza, indirectly killed by Hope along with the Gen-9. Later, she finally reunites with Bellamy who has become completely submissive to Cadogan and his Disciples, betraying his friends. Returning to Earth thanks to Cadogan, Clarke sadly makes Octavia and the others learn of Bellamy's death. Eventually, Octavia transcends along with all of the survivors and reunites with Clarke who hasn't transcended.
