Odysseus (Age of Mythology)

Odysseus is a protagonist in the video game Age of Mythology. He first appears during the Greek Arc of the campaign Fall of the Trident, assisting Arkantos and Agamemnon to defeat the Trojans.

He is voiced by Sean Donnellan.

Biography[]

Odysseus is first seen with Agamemnon, who introduces him to Arkantos. The two team up to siege the main gate and rescue Helen, who is the wife of Agamemnon’s brother. They are successful in taking down the gate, but Ajax’s camp is ambushed and the heroes are forced to order their men to retreat. As Arkantos and Ajax destroy the Trojan base adjacent to the camp, Agamemnon’s camp is attacked.

Just as Agamemnon contemplated giving up, Odysseus suggests building a great wooden horse to sneak behind their walls. They succeed in doing so, and Arkantos, Ajax and Odysseus steal siege weapons to raze the gate. With the security undermined and the element of surprise on their side, Agamemnon storms his army inside and they are successful in saving Helen. He bids Arkantos farewell as he leaves with Ajax to repair his ships.

Some time later, Arkantos and Ajax find Odysseus's ship wrecked on the cliff of a strange island. They find out that his men were turned into pigs by Circe and imprisoned. He is successfully rescued and transformed back into a human, but regretfully informs Arkantos that he must return home, and thanks him. Arkantos is highly supportive of his decision, insisting that Odysseus owes him nothing, and lends him a ship to sail home.

Before he got home, Athena communicated with Odysseus in his dream. She informed him about the threat of Kronos being released from Tartarus, which she claimed would result in the destruction of his city. Motivated, Odysseus longed to find Arkantos in the Norselands, and managed to find his location thanks to the noise of the explosion from Thor's hammer sealing the gate. He brought a giant army with him to help Arkantos, who was making a final stand against Gargarensis' overwhelming forces, and turned the tides in his favor. Arkantos expresses his endless gratitude for helping, and celebrate their false defeat of Gargarensis. He is finally seen in the end cutscene sailng from Atlantis, expressing sorrow as the city is destroyed.
