Old Froggy is a supporting character in the surreal musical animated YouTube series Ratboy Genius. He is a large sapient frog who sometimes helps out Ratboy Genius and friends by giving them a ride on his back. Despite not appearing much, he has played a few key heroic roles in the series, in the worlds of both Ratboy and Little King John. He is the owner of a kingdom in the Minecraft Dimension, Old Froggy's Paradise, which is also the official Ratboy Genius Minecraft server in real life.
He is voiced by an unknown text-to-speech voice.
Appearance[]
Old Froggy appears as a large quadrupedal green frog capable of transporting full-sized characters on his back. He has blue irises and red lips, with dark blonde hair on his head.
Personality[]
He enjoys swimming in bodies of water, mainly Lake Genius in Ratboy's Kingdom. He is glad to help out others in the way he is best at: Giving them rides on his back. He is loyal, always doing what is requested of him. He has a more friendly and talkative side, which he shows especially during Old Froggy and the Magic Flute.
Powers/Skills[]
- Amphibious physiology: Being a frog, Old Froggy can survive on land, on top of water, and underwater without issue, though his body shape looks to be more built for swimming.
- Strong swimming and constitution: He can swim fast and far while carrying a person on his back.
Biography[]
Ratboy's Kingdom[]
Old Froggy made his debut when Ratboy Genius and Summer Solstice Baby, in a submarine, visited him underwater in Lake Genius to get his advice and information about the mythical Lake 'Nius Monster. The Baby had never seen Old Froggy before, and asked Ratboy if the frog was the legendary creature they were looking for. The frog told them that he had never found the monster, but had seen something he didn't recognize that might have been it. He joined the duo in their search. After a mistaken sighting of Green Monster, they eventually did spot the Lake 'Nius Monster.
Ratboy Genius Dreams Minecraft[]
Along with many other of Ratboy's friends, he was transported to the Minecraft Dimension inside Ratboy's dream as a result of the Magic making Ratboy's dream real. Summer Solstice Baby had been kidnapped by Little King John. In a plan hatched by Froggy, Happyman, and Green Monster, while John was elsewhere he swam through the moat of John's castle and rescued the Baby. He told her Ratboy was looking for her. He transported her a long way through a water stream and found Green Monster. The Baby thanked him and went off searching for Ratboy.
He possibly continued to stay in the Minecraft Dimension as his new home after everyone else had left, as he is never seen in Ratboy's Kingdom again.
Little King John: THE FLOOD[]
The Great Deluge had began, and Little King John's kingdom was entirely underwater. John was trapped inside his castle until Old Froggy picked him up and swam him over to his yacht, ensuring John's continued survival.
Later on, Ratboy sent Mister Bigarms and Very Tall Friend through the portal to the Minecraft Dimension to teach Little King John about the nature of his reality and recruit him to help save the galaxy in Ratboy's dimension from the Big Fish Boss. Old Froggy picked them up and transported them to John's new rebuilt kingdom.
He later appeared in Little King John's nightmare, where he performed a jumpscare.
Miscellaneous videos[]
In The Little King John Show, it is revealed that Old Froggy's Paradise, the real-world Minecraft server, exists in-universe as a kingdom owned by Old Froggy in the Minecraft Dimension. Little King John and Sneezy visited the dimension and saw many artful structures and statues built by visitors to the kingdom (in real life, they were built by Minecraft players logging into the server).
In Old Froggy and the Magic Flute, it is revealed that Old Froggy and Little King John have cell phones and text each other. Little King John called on Froggy to help him, and Froggy accepted without a second thought. Little King John told him about the tin flute that Clyde had dropped at the birth of the Minecraft dimension, now an ancient artifact. John instructed Froggy to dig down, and he obliged.
The frog discovered an underground lair where the flute was kept. There, he met the Caveman and explained his mission, expressing surprise at the fact it was kept in such good condition. Caveman told the story of one of his ancestors finding and protecting the flute, then receiving a prophetic dream of a king sending his messenger to find it. Old Froggy was the messenger. Caveman was sad that he was parting ways with it, but the frog reassured him that he could visit and see it again. He then found the exit, where he swam upwards and back to John.
To celebrate retrieving the instrument, the duo took selfies together with it. They discovered the flute would change size and pitch when the king used his size-changing ability, revealing its magical powers.
