Old Sox is a supporting character in the 2022 animated Disney/Pixar film Lightyear. He is an older version of Sox 50 years from now.

Like his past self, he was voiced by Peter Sohn.

Biography[]

Old Sox is Zurg's companion back when he was Buzz Lightyear. However, after Buzz was almost arrested for stealing the XL-15 starship and testing the hyperdrive fuel once he returned to T'Kani Prime, he was forced to escape with Sox and traveled centuries into the future where the two came across an abandoned spaceship. Upon entering the ship, Buzz discovered advanced technology and a massive suit of armor. Donning the armor, Buzz took on the name of Zurg, and with Sox's help, spent the next 50 years perfecting the fuel to travel back in time to get everyone back to Earth.

Fifty years later, Old Sox is elated when he sees a younger, friendlier version of Buzz that Zurg had teleported onto his ship. When Buzz and Zurg disagree on using the new fuel to travel through time and create a paradox, Old Sox has a change of heart and knocks Zurg out with a tranquilizer dart, then frees Buzz from his restraints. He guides Buzz to the control room to set the ship to self-destruct, but before they can leave, he is crushed by Zurg, who labels him as a traitor.

Personality[]

When he is first introduced, Old Sox is very happy to see a friendlier version of Buzz. He can be glitchy at times, having a long pause before finishing his sentences.

Appearance[]

Old Sox is weathered, battered, and missing pieces of his outer structure such as the left side of his face, leaving it exposed with a red robotic eye.
