Oliver Fields was a United States Army Captain during the Resource Wars. He was moved to Appalachia when the bombs fell with the Great War/World War III breaking out on October 23rd, 2077.
He is voiced by Fred Tatasciore, who is also known for voicing the Beast half of the Beauty and the Beast Unit from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Clone Wars, Pacha in The Emperor's New School, among many other roles of good or evil characters.
Background[]
Captain Fields has been fighting alongside his subordinates, Sergeants Fred Radcliff and Thompson, since the Resource Wars, and Radcliff credits his command as being responsible for his survival. He is the was part of the original team responsible for moving the gold reserves from Fort Knox to Vault 79. He was however locked out of the vault with his subordinates. He refuses to believe that America has fallen and sticks to his mission to best of his ability, despite it having been 25 years since the Great War/WWIII decimated the USA and China in nuclear fire. Oliver and his subordinates wandered the wastelands, but stay close to Appalachia. Upon hearing it was safe enough to return, he and his squad came back. On their way, they passed though the Pitt. There he tried to save citizens, but was injured trying to get in his power armor and barely escaped. Oliver considered retiring afterwards, but decided not to when he heard about military remnants in Appalachia, such as Lieutenant Elizabeth Taggerdy and her Army Rangers, Taggerdy's Thunder. On the way they found the Settlers. Oliver meet up with the Vault Dweller in a ransacked bunker that had belonged to the Free States to talk about using the gold reserves to make a new economy in Appalachia. After consulting with his team, he agrees to send Sergeant Radcliff to assist in the heist. Afterwards, he and his squad make their way to Foundation and stay there for the rest of the game, having their own quarters in the underground Founder's Hall, where Paige, Aubrie, and the several of the other Settlers reside.
