Olivia Baker is a major supporting character in the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why.

Following the suicide of Hannah, Olivia is a distraught and mourning mother who misses her daughter a lot. In the first season she seeks to discover what led her to make the decision to end her life and in the second she brings the school of Liberty High to trial blaming it for her daughter's death. 

She was portrayed by Kate Walsh.

Biography[]

Season One[]

In the flashback storyline, the Bakers are shown to be owning a drug store. They are also portrayed as suffering financially. Olivia buys Hannah a car so she can impress people at Liberty High with it and make friends. Hannah states at one point that Olivia and Andrew are childhood sweethearts.

In the last episode, Tony Padilla gives Olivia and Andrew the audio of a set of tapes Hannah created before killing herself, explaining why she made the decision. 

Season Two[]

Olivia and Andrew are seperated and Olivia finds out that Andrew has moved in with another woman and is raising her child with her. Olivia brings Liberty High to trial blaming it for Hannah's death after hearing the tapes.

She befriends Jessica Davis and Clay Jensen throughout the season.

Season Three[]

Bryce Walker, who was one of the reasons for Hannah's suicide after he brutally raped her, comes to Olivia and apologizes for what he did. Olivia refuses to accept the apology and scolds Bryce for what happened.

When the police force of Liberty investigate the murder of Bryce Walker, Olivia returns from New York to Crestmont. Upon discovering that Clay is under investigation for the murder she meets with Bryce's mother, Nora Walker and tries to convince her Clay is not guilty. She encourages Clay to not keep secrets and be truthful to help him clear his name.
