Ollerus is a major character in the A Certain Magical Index franchise.
He is an enigmatic yet powerful magician who once had the chance to become a Magic God, a being of vast power, but failed to do so. As an impure Magic God, Ollerus was once pursued by various magical organizations seeking his power and knowledge, but he has managed to defeat or elude all of his pursuers with ease. He and his small group of allies seeks to defeat the terroristic magic cabal known as GREMLIN and its leader, Magic God Othinus, the person who had stolen Ollerus's chance at becoming a Magic God.
He is voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki in Japanese (who also voices Shinichi Izumi from Parasyte, Ritsuka Fujimaru from Fate/Grand Order, Eugeo from Sword Art Online and Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket) and Brad Hawkins in English (who also voices the eponymous protagonist from Goblin Slayer).
Appearance[]
Ollerus is a young man of an unknown age with a slim build and green eyes. He has short blonde hair with bangs that covers his eye. He normally wears a thin, aquamarine shirt underneath a camel-colored lambskin vest with matching pants and brown shoes.
Personality[]
Ollerus is a very kind-hearted and considerate person who has a strong sense of justice and will not hesitate to help those in need. He is shown to be extremely sentimental and altruistic to the point where sacrificed his one chance at magical godhood just to protect a nearby kitten. He also saved one-hundred children from a human trafficking organization even when he didn't need to. Ollerus' soft-hearted nature extends to his enemies, as he refused to chain up the human traffickers because it would be no different than what they did to the children.
Due to his innate selflessness, Ollerus is unable to ignore anybody in trouble, even a villain. He rescued Fiamma of the Right from the brink of death, restored Cendrillion back to her original form and indirectly gave her the ability to reconstruct her body, and even stopped Silvia and Brunhild from killing Othinus, despite her being his greatest enemy.
Biography[]
Ollerus' full background is shrouded in mystery. For years, Ollerus has been sought and pursued by various magicians and organizations who sought to obtain his power and knowledge for their own means but he has evaded and even defeated a multitude of them with ease. He is shown to be well-acquainted with the Saint Silvia, who was travelling the world at the time to hone her skills. The circumstances under which they met is unknown but they clearly haven known each other for a long time.

Powers[]
- Hliðskjálf: Ollerus' main ability which is named after Odin's throne in Norse Mythology. It allows him to turn his own life force and magical power into an exotic and unexplainable form of energy that he can utilize in a variety of ways. This ability is said to be utterly impossible to explain or describe. While Hliðskjálf normally isn't used for combat, Ollerus can wield it offensively through brute force. When used offensively, Hliðskjálf takes the form of an invisible spell that blows the enemy backward without Ollerus making any kind of movement or sign. It does equal damage to every part of the body including internal organs. According to Ollerus, this attack is unable to be defended against, as the enemy cannot even begin to mount a defense against an unexplainable attack coming from an incomprehensible place while not leaving them a chance to form a countermeasure.
- Fragokinesis: Like Othinus, Ollerus is capable of generating an infinite barrage of several hundreds of millions of strange explosions to match Othinus' similar technique. During their battle, Ollerus and Othinus created a great number of explosion against one another, seemingly distorting time and space.
- Shapeshifting: Ollerus can take the form of other people, as shown when he shapeshifted into Thor to infiltrate GREMLIN, with his disguise being capable of fooling even the likes of Othinus. He was also capable of recreating Thor's magic.
- Regeneration: Through an unknown method, Ollerus can regenerate his body parts with ease. After Othinus severed his arm while he was disguised as Thor to infiltrate GREMLIN, Ollerus quickly reconnected his arm by simply pressing it against his shoulder without chanting a spell or using any spiritual item or talisman.
- Enhanced Durability: Ollerus was able to withstand multiple attacks from Gunha and defeated him while being completely unharmed.
- Turn into a Fairy: Ollerus' trump card against Othinus which was created specifically to counter the powers of a Magic God. The spell appears as a glowing stake that comes out of the user's open palms and is used by piercing the target's chest. The spell, if working properly, is able to thoroughly destroy the interior of the target's body and otherwise depower the target. For example, Othinus Magic God's powers were tilted towards 0% chance of success after being hit by the spell, and while it took a long time, the spell eventually almost destroyed her if not for outside interference. Ollerus's own magic powers were reduced to a level below the average magician after Othinus used his own spell against him.
Abilities[]
- High Intelligence: Ollerus is shown to be extremely intelligent, especially in subjects related to magic. He has absorbed the knowledge of several powerful grimoires by using the theory of Hliðskjálf to purify his lifeforce, transforming it into a special magical energy. He is quite strategic, as shown when he entered Academy City and targeted one of its Level 5 espers, Gunha Sogiita, to warn Aleister Crowley not to harm the Gemstones by defeating one of Academy City's strongest espers. Due to having lived his life slipping through the gaps of most magical world powers' search networks, he has covert operations skills surpassing those of the average intelligence agent or spy.
- Stealth Mastery: Ollerus is able to hide his presence effortlessly, as shown when he arrived at the site of Touma's first encounter with Othinus in Baggage City without anyone present being able to perceive his arrival. In fact, though Othinus managed to see him when she turned on his direction, Maria Kumokawa (who was looking in the same direction) was unable to tell he was even there until Othinus called out to him.
