The Omatikaya Clan is a clan featured in the 2009 sci-fi film of Avatar and the 2022 sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. They are one of the several clans of the Na'vi people who reside in Pandora's jungles and forests.

Culture[]

The Omatikaya are jungle-dwelling na'vi who lived in Pandora's massive Hometree. After its destruction, the Omatikaya temporarily lived in Hell's Gate until the RDA returned. However, they moved to a High Camp within the Hallelujiah Mountains when the RDA returned.

They were renowned for their weaving and skills and creating textiles.  They also believe that if a job is done correctly, then it should never be done again. They built most of their tools for survival and enjoyment.

All members had at least one special skills in craft making and encourage their children to make animal-based toys. They also play music, and their most important instrument is the Blue Floot.

History[]

Background[]

Many years ago, Entu was the first ever Toruk Makto who tamed the beast in order to save the Tree of Souls. He accomplished this with his friends, Ralu and Tysal.

Several millennia later, Neytiri's great-great-grandfather was the fifth Toruk Makto. The Omatikaay mde the Toruk Makto story legendary and was recounted from parents to children.

Many years prior to the series, the Omatikaya made first contact with the humans when the RDA first came to Pandora. One of the humans, Grace Augustine, convinced Eytukan, the clan leader at the time, to open up a school for children, including Neytiri, Tsu'tey and Neytiri's older sister, Sylwanin. However, the relationship between the Na'vi and humans soured when the RDA attacked Grace's school ten years after it opened. Neytiri's older sister was killed and Eytukan decreed that humans were banned from their lands.

For the next fourteen years, the Omatikaya lived in peace until the RDA forces returned, with the intention of making Pandora their home because Earth was dying. The Omatikaya Clan disrupted most of the RDA's operations, so Miles Quaritch and his team of Recom soldiers were sent in to kill Jake Sully. However, the team only managed to capture Miles "Spider" Socorro, who never gave away the Clan's locations when under interrogation.

Fearing Spider would give up the High Camp's locations, Jake and his family were forced to abandon the clan to protect the people. He abdicated his title and chose Tarsem, a wise warrior, to be his successor.
