Omoi is a supporting character in the Naruto manga and anime series. He is a Kumogakure shinobi of chunin rank and after the Fourth World War Shinobi advanced to the rank of Jonin and became the bodyguard of the fifth Raikage.
He is voiced by Kunihiro Kawamoto in the Japanese version, and by Ogie Banks in the English version.
Appearance[]
Omoi is a young black-skinned man with dark eyes, shorty white hair and eyelashes surfing upwards from the corners. His casual wear is a grey blouse and covered with a white coat, black pants with white belts and black sandals with covered red belts. He wears a black forehead protector with the Kumogakure symbol.
Personality[]
Omoi is a very cautious and thoughtful person who thinks everything through before intervening on his enemies, which is why he often gets lost in his thoughts, not knowing what to do. Unlike his friend Karui, he is very calm when it comes to controlling his emotions, yet he himself panics, especially at the end result when he hears a loud noise, thinking that an avalanche of rocks has flooded Konoha, until Karui throws a rock at his head. Omoi likes to make fun of Karui for her short-tempered personality, but with painful results.
Like the other members of his team, Omoi has a huge fondness for Killer B due to the fact that he learned to fight with a sword, was shocked that he was kidnapped and made a desperate vow to save him. Although Karui called him a pessimist when he expressed his fears that Killer B might be dead after being kidnapped. And when Omoi and Karui accidentally eavesdropped on Team 7, Omoi threateningly demanded information about Sasuke when they didn't want any information, Omoi honestly explains why they want Sasuke and declares his revenge on him, forcing Team 7 to work with Kumogakure to get them Sasuke for kidnapping his idol.
Story[]
Omoi is first seen when he and Karui are arguing over various reasons, when the Fourth Raikage calls Team Samui to deliver a letter to the Hokage regarding the recent capture of Killer B. Omoi expresses concerns that Killer B may be dead due to the loss of Gyūki, but Karui insists that B is still alive and thinks that Omoi is skeptical.
When Samui's team reached Konoha, they saw a huge crater after the fight with Pain. When they entered Konoha, they started asking the surviving inhabitants what happened there and learned about the recent attack.
When Samui meets with Tsunade to deliver the letter, Omoi and Karui sniff out how Naruto, Sakura, and Sai are talking to Sasuke, who is one of Killer B's kidnappers. Then Omoi and Karui confront them, demanding information from Sasuke, which causes a conflict between the two teams. After confronting Team 7, Omoi informs them of Sasuke's actions and what he has done recently and wants to take revenge on him if Konoha continues to ally with Kumo and they should help provide various information that can be used to kill Sasuke.
Naruto wants to assure Omoi and Karui that there is a chance to save Killer B and there is still time to save him. Naruto offers them information about Sasuke to calm them down. Naruto, aware that Team Samui were close to Sasuke, Naruto did not want to sell out Sasuke so he decided to slow down the Kumogakure Shinobi. He suggested that Karui beat him up, to which she agreed and started beating Naruto eagerly. Even though Omoi saw her friend Karui beating him, Naruto continued beating him, but then Omoi stopped looking and asked her to stop, arguing that they had to help Killer B.
After Samui finishes his conversation with Tsunade and returns to his team, they go to the Konoha archive library to make copies of all Konoha's intelligence information about Sasuke. Then the Samui team comes to the Fourth Raikage located in the land of iron to report and send information about one of the kidnappers of Killer B. After the Samui team received the important information, Omoi asked the Fourth Raikage about Samehada's sword.
When the Fourth Shinobi World War was started by the Akatsuki, Omoi joined the volunteers fighting in the War against the Akatsuki and joined the Surprise Attack Division commanded by Kankurō. Even though Kankurō is the leader of his unit, Omoi has doubts about Kankurō's leadership and fighting skills due to the fact that they are the same age, but Kankurō assures him that he has certain competences and that there is nothing to worry about.
When the members of the Surprise Attack Division tired of traveling, they began to set up camps as their bases, and Omoi created floats for enemies in case they were to attack them. However, when unknown people approach their base, they stop Omoi's traps. Despite his failed traps, Omoi quickly engages in combat with supposedly hostile units who turn out to be allies of the Infiltration-Routing unit controlled by Sasori. Omoi manages to free several members of this unit, such as: Takuma Hyuga and Ranka, and after releasing these members of the unit and providing them with medical assistance, Omoi and other members of his division regroup.
The Surprise Attack Division wants to find a way to neutralize Deidara's explosions because he is among their ranks, the members are looking for a volunteer who can stop his explosive attacks. Omoi is the only one who volunteers, filling his sword with lightning. When Omoi entered the fight between Kankurō and Shin, and then together they attacked Shin who is controlled by Sasori, he even tried to hit Sasori's weak point. Omoi eventually manages to defeat Deidare despite Sai furiously attacking the division for turning his resurrected brother into a bomb and then trapping Deidara and Shin in one of Kankurō's puppets to deactivate the bombs.
In episode 285 of the anime, Omoi and Zaji joined the Third Division to fight Fuguki Suikazan, however Maki got into trouble so Omoi and Zaji focused on saving her team from Pakura and Gari.
In episode 286 after Yurui's team was attacked by Ameyuri Ringo, the team was forced to evacuate when Yurui died. While the other members had to flee on Nurui's orders, Omoi meanwhile did not give in, forcing himself not to flee forever and his strong Will convinced the other members of his team to continue fighting despite Nurui's orders. Omoi ignoring all of Nurui and Kazui's orders faced Ameyuri, the fight between the two shinobi was so hard that Nurui and Kazui who ordered Omoi to retreat suddenly turned around to help him in the fight.
During the fight with Ameyuri, Nurui and Kazui are quickly knocked down, so Omoi alone managed to finally trap Ameyuri in the swamp. As they were both drowning in the swamp, the Shinobi Alliance forces arrived and successfully rescued Omoi from the sinking swamp. Ameyuri, drowning in the swamp herself, gave Omoi her swords as a reward for defeating her before she drowned.
