The Oracle is the overarching protagonist of The Matrix Trilogy. She appears as a program who became a key ally to Neo and Morpheus, and the resistance.
History[]
The Oracle is a program made inside the Matrix and has lived throughout all six editions of it, each lasting a century. She seeks Potentials who have gifts inside the Matrix. She provides balance to the Matrix.
By the era of the Sixth Matrix, the Oracle had inspired Morpheus by telling him he would find the One; she also told Trinity that she would fall in love with the one, which Trinity was less amused by.
Meeting Neo[]
The Oracle meets the sixth One by the name of Neo. When he entered the kitchen, she told him not to worry about the vase, but saying it makes him bump into it, knocking it down and shattering it; she uses it as an explanation of fate, since she notes that maybe he only broke the vase because she mentioned it, or it was always going to happen, thus leaving him to ponder his own destiny. She offers Neo to take a cookie.
The Oracle noted Neo had potential, but he wasn't the One, however, this was a test she did to help him earn the belief he was the One, rather than simply be entitled to it by knowing from the start.
As Trinity does fall in love with Neo, when it seemed like Agent Smith killed him, she whispered it was impossible since the One wouldn't die like that, and since she loves him, he is the One. Indeed, Neo's powers awaken and he was revived; using his new powers over the Matrix, he infiltrated Smith causing him to explode with himself being unharmed. The remaining two Agents fled from Neo.
New Look[]
The Merovingian made a deal with the Oracle to collect her data. As a result, her external shell was deleted and she gained a new one.
Merged Into Smith[]
One day, Smith (now a virus) converted the Oracle into a form of him so he can outnumber Neo.
Aftermath[]
After Neo sacrificed himself, everyone converted, including the Oracle, was freed from the Smith virus; the Matrix briefly rebooted to undo the damage caused by the rogue program. Later, the Oracle had a conversation with the Architect; while peace between humanity and Machines had been reached, the Architect was cynical about it, which the Oracle didn't deny its fragility, but put on positive spin on it to note it will last as long as it can.

- "Everything that has a beginning has an end."
