"And I see the floods that wash away life..."
~ Orcane in his reveal trailer.

Orcane, also known by his title of The Puddle Jumper, is one of the playable characters in Rivals of Aether. He's a playful trickster that steals from the more well off like the Water Trade Company, and gives to the poor who can barely afford food.

He was released on September 22nd, 2015.

Official Bio[]

"When he first arrived in Water Town, the merchant capital of Aether, Orcane was considered a dangerous nuisance and a criminal. Orcane is a playful trickster, notorious for escaping even the most precarious of situations.

However, while the Water Merchants denounce Orcane in public, they do not hesitate to call upon him when they need a situation dealt with quietly. Orcane is sly and can infiltrate even the most secure strongholds. He can transform into water and confuse enemies with a spray of bubbles, making him the perfect candidate for stealth assignments."

Biography[]

Orcane is a playful trickster that soon built himself a reputation of a notorious thief and criminal, though he mostly steals from the Water Trade Company and gives their earnings to those less fortunate individuals. Despite this, the WTC still occasionally asks Orcane for help in other matters.

One such occasion saw the WTC furious at the Air Armada for destroying their flagship and constantly pillaging their trade routes. They decided to infiltrate the Air Armada and bring it down, but for that, they'd need Orcane's help. The WTC approaches Nesbit, a poor fisherman Orcane is fond of, and offers him a feast in exchange for them convincing Orcane to assist the WTC. Nesbit instead bargains for a yearly feast open to all the workers of Merchant's Port, which although is a steep bargain the chairman of the WTC isn't fond of, he's forced to accept.

Nesbit's granddaughter tells Orcane the plan, which he agrees to help with, as he'll do anything for his adoptive family. Using his water abilities, Orcane sneaks onboard the Air Armada through an unguarded sink.

As Orcane looks around for the WTC's goods, he spots an odd scene: the Air Armada's commander exchanges the WTC's goods, worth millions, in exchange for a single scroll, one that details the weak points of every civilization in Aether. Orcane is distracted by this, and subsequently caught by surprise with the appearance of Wrastor and Bradshaw, the two similarly shocked to find Orcane onboard, and Wrastor, as hotheaded as he is, engages Orcane in combat.

Orcane defeats Wrastor and reclaims the WTC's goods before leaving the ship and returning to Merchant Port, only to find the entire thing engulfed in flames. He quickly extinguishes the flames and rescues Nesbit's granddaughter before learning of what happened: a furious Fire General had gone on a senseless rampage. Orcane sniffs the general's scent and follows the trail West.

Orcane would soon arrive at a vast crater, encountering Zetterburn, the general that torched Merchant Port, alongside Forsburn and Maypul. Kragg would arrive soon as well, followed shortly by Wrastor, but before the group can begin fighting again, the ground shakes as the sea pulses purple and a vast stone platform rises from the depths of the sea. The platform also seems to double as a gateway, inside of which the group witnesses a vast abyss that plunges deep below the surface. Believing this to be the source of the purple shadows, the group puts aside their differences and battle the creatures.

The group emerges victorious, with their rivalries a thing of the past, instead considering each other allies against any future threats to Aether.

However, sadly Orcane and the other heroes would soon be forgotten to time, with them all seemingly disappearing.

Other Appearances[]

Lovers of Aether[]
