Orion, or the Orion Republic (officially The Republic of Orion) is a significant nation within the DEAD AHEAD Universe (Forma), Located within The Hydran continent alongside its neighbors. (Hydrus and Auriga). It is a prominent member of The Dragon Compact: who would go on to liberate CENTAURA from The Antares Imperium following a lengthy naval campaign.
History[]
In 1489, the Orion Kingdom was founded under a monarch, King Alnilam I. The kingdom was made up of several smaller families and occupied a peninsula near the Bowstring Isthmus; its population was well-protected and well-fed. A council was formed under the monarch to act as a government body, which passed laws and was assigned to judiciary duties.
The kingdom would thrive under order and peace for almost two centuries until outside nations began to look for expansion. The first real threat the Orionites faced were from the Empire of Circinus, which at the time was the largest country on the Hydran mainland in terms of territory. Circinian forces were known to be lousy and undertrained, as most of their soldiers were conscripted. With this in mind, the Orionites began small attacks on Circinian camps, gaining ground little by little. After capturing a key point, Orion forces would construct anti-personnel barriers (cheval de frise) around the area. Several years later, the Orionites would have mastered guerrilla tactics and made alliances with “liberated” Circinian territories. By 1715, the Circinian capital was surrounded by Orion forces and the Empire of Circinus capitulated.
At this point, the Orion Kingdom became the largest Hydran country, taking control of the lands north of the Bowstring Isthmus. The next century would see the Orionites fighting unorganized nations to the south until they reached the Aurigan borders. Combat would continue to the east, where they met the coastal kingdom of Gemina. The Geminans were a fierce enemy, and Orion would later sign a treaty with them in 1823.
Early Republic era (1830-1881)[]
The kingdom was reformed into a republic in 1830, and the country would be split into several districts named after the nations conquered by Orion. Gemina would collapse in 1837, and Orion took advantage of the disorder, bringing the Geminan district into the republic.
In 1842, the Ursan Federation made landfall on the Hydran mainland. With technology equal to or even superior to that of the Orionites, the Ursans pushed south and took control of the Circinia and Canis districts. Within the next few years, Circinia was reclaimed by Orion and a treaty was introduced to cease fighting. The Ursans would get to keep the Canis district, which helped the Orion government simplify their management of Orion lands. The Orion government soon took advantage of all the territories they conquered, which held many materials like ores and lumber. The society and technology of the Orionites advanced quickly; in 1881, the Orion government striked a deal with the Aurigans, purchasing over half of the Aurigan landmass and bringing the Aurigan district into the republic.
This is where the Orion expansion stopped. Learning from the fall of the ancient Librans, the Orion government believed that expanding too large would lead to internal collapse. Instead, the government shifted their focus towards domestic policies and improvements with much success. The Orion economy would grow throughout the late 1800s and by the 1910s, Orion would become the richest country in the world.
In 1899, the Hydrus Revolution was successful, and the state of Hydrus broke free from Ursan Control. This encouraged Orion to ally with the revolutionary states in Hydra so that they could defeat Ursa and regain their loss lands. In 1902, prior to the Grease Wars, Lepus would break free as well. Orion would trade Lepus with Gemina, a rebellious region full of anti-Orionite gangs in exchange for joining the Dragon Compact, an alliance between the nations of Hydrus, Lepus and Orion is formed with great interest in liberating Occupied Canis.
The Grease Wars (1902-1905)[]
That same year, The Ursan Federation declares war on all members of the Compact, starting The Grease Wars. A Hydrusite-Lepun force begins to land in eastern Canis as Orionite armies march northwards from the Bowstring Isthmus. The landings are followed by uprisings by rebels.
Northeast and southern Canis fall to Compact forces. The Ursan Federal Navy enters the Serpent’s Channel and to sever supply lines from the Hydran mainland. Orionite forces begin advancing deeper into Canis, prompting Ursan soldiers to resort to setting the many oil fields ablaze and mine regions in Canis in a bid to stop the Compact’s push, starting the Cerberus Oil fires. Ursan soldiers begin evacuating to the mainland from the city of Alcor in northern Canis, as the Orionite Fleet regains control of the Serpent’s Channel.
In subsequent battles, the Ursan Navy deployed combat aircraft against Orionite vessels for the first time in history; the ships rely on evasive maneuvers to dodge the planes’ attacks and sailors retaliate with rifle fire. The final Ursan troopships leave Canis for the last time, a free Canis is celebrated, as The Grease Wars come to a close.
Soon after, The independent states of Hydrus, Lepus and Canis agree to form the Hydrus Commonwealth as a defense against any future Ursan aggression.
The Interwar Period[]
In 1906, The Enterprise Reform Alliance (ERA) wins the year’s elections, beating out the declining NRP and UDP, beginning their dominance of politics. The Cerberus Oil fires are also extinguished, however; the mines laid across the Canisian desert by the fleeing Ursan troops remain. It wouldn’t be until 1907 That the first road across the Canisian desert is deemed safe by Orionite authorities, it would go on to be nicknamed ‘The Road of Death’ by locals,
The Orion Army would commission new uniforms in 1909 to replace their 1900-era uniform, as an ocean away: The South Corvus war would rage on, and Antares would prepare for their soon-to-be conquest of Centaura. As The Cetan Empire would go on to fall to The Antarean Empire, Orion and Hydrus would begin a lend-lease program to assist the fledgling nation, disregarding the fall of Cetus. A year later in 1913, Advancements in telegram and telephone technology would open new connections between The Hydran Continent and Centaura.
Following the fall of Aquila and Vega, many would protest in Orion and Hydrus: demanding that their governments should intervene in the wars, their pleas and that of the Centauran people are ignored. Centauran refugees landing in Libra would be redirected to Orion.
In 1919, A skirmish in the Yelman Sea sees the Orionite battleship, ORS Epimetheus, sunk by the Ursan battleship FUS Furud by its torpedo tubes. The crew of the ORS Epimetheus would abandon the ship before it sank into the sea, making it the only known instance of a battleship successfully sinking another only with its torpedoes. Alongside this, The Antarean government would bar Orionite war correspondents from reporting in their territory, deporting those who remained.
As the 1920s dawned, The Orionite Navy would adopt Bellatrix-class of battleships. As The Orionite Army would also adopt Airborne Divisons into their ranks, whilst The Gems (Gemini Partisans) launch an attack in the city of Port Orie in the Geminan District of Orion.
The Orion Navy goes on to commission the Cere-class of battleships in 1923, and in 1926 Thomas Wallace secures the presidency of Orion. In 1927, following the death of Kalvin Tau of Antares, Thomas Wallace would attempt to negotiate with Aran Tau, the new leader of Antares. to end The Centauran Wars, this attempt however would fail. Wallace would then order for arriving Centauran refugees to be housed.
In 1929, The Orionite Navy would adopt the Vesta-class of battleships, that same year Antares would sever phone lines connecting them to Orion, as a result: both President Wallace and Hydrusite representatives request for an international summit to be held in Libratum. Libra sends invitations to all nations to the meeting in the next year. And as 1930 rolled around: The Nations currently at war with Antares are unable to attend, meaning only Antares was present while all of Hydra is present to condemn and suspend any and all trade with Antares. The meeting bears little fruit as Antares continues their conquest undisturbed.
Thomas Wallace would go on to win a second term. Minesweeping operations would also begin in Canis, Orionite efforts would cover half of the region. President Wallace would also pass a tax act, raising taxes for individuals. Gas masks and other devices become standard-issue in most armies, rendering chemical warfare less potent. And in 1934, Incumbent Thomas Wallace loses his third bid to Ferdinand Powell due to his lack of action to the Centauran War.
President Powell passes the Military Defense Act, increasing the Army’s budget in response to continued Antarean aggression. The act also establishes the Orion Maritime Corps (OMAC) as a branch of the Orion Navy meant to serve as security for cargo vessels. However, as Antares begins a blockade of Northern Centaura: Orion, Hydrus and Auriga would halt trade with Centauran nations in fear of losing ships to the Antarean blockade. Northern Centaura would now stand alone.
In 1944, as Centauri becomes the last bastion of resistance in Centaura, Ferdinand Powell enacts the Littoral Defense Act, commissioning the construction of coastal defense Bastions along Orionite waters. The OMAC is reformed into a proper marine fighting force, a year later: Former President Thomas Wallace would die at the age of 78.
In 1946, incumbent Ferdinand Powell wins re-election as UDP candidate Marcus Triton faces trial for allegedly accepting bribes. Following this, The Second International Conference is held, the same delegations as before attends to debate. The Hydran nations unanimously condemn the actions of Antares, leading to an hour-long back and forth before a recess is called: HOWEVER, during a recess, four Antarean representatives and one Orionite representative are found dead. The scene implies the Orionite shot the Antareans before aiming on himself; the fifth and only surviving Antarean returns to Antares to spread the news, this would go on to be remembered as "The SIC Incident". And it would be the spark to the powderkeg that was Forma, and soon after: would result in
The Forman War (1948-1961)[]
The Invasion of Orion[]
Orion and The Hydrus Commonwealth would form The Dragon Compact once more as The Antares Imperium and Ursa would form The Solistice. Two Antarean aircraft carrier groups sail for Orion, heading towards the Canis and Circanian districts in particular, The North Group launches an attack on Bastion Delta and Madison Island, situated off the coast of Canis. The Bastion was caught off guard due to being under maintenance, following an extensive Antarean aerial raid, only one Bastion tower remains. An Orionite gunboat, the ORS Bullfrog is also sunk while aiding the towers, suffering two direct bomb hits. Following the attack, Shokktroopers would land on the eastern half of Madison Island, securing Port Delphinus as civilians evacuated the area, they would later be pushed back by a orionite counterattack.
The Southern Group is detected by Orionite posts and the city of Palmsville is evacuated. Antarean bombing strikes hit the city, followed by a Shokktrooper landing. However, the citizens of Palmsville were armed and willing to fight, assisting police units in delaying the Antarean advance. The Orion Army garrison would eventually reach the city and pushed the Shokktroopers back to their fleet. At the same time, the South Group carrier fleet was being attacked and the force withdrew. Most of coastal Palmsville was destroyed but the Orionites celebrate a victory nonetheless.
The Orionite Navy faces heavy losses against the Antarean Armada, before the Orionite Air Force is mobilized to drive the Antareans out of Orionite waters. President Powell would address the nation following the attacks, announcing a program to kickstart Orion’s war economy and a draft of all men ages 16-40. The Kingdom of Auriga would also declares its support for Orion and The Dragon Compact, sending medical aid and food supplies as civilians volunteer in the Orion Armed Forces.

the Antares Armada would now set sail for the Federation of Libra. The Armada swiftly decimated the Libran fleet and landed soldiers on its western island, driving Librans into the interior. Despite their early victories, the invasion is bogged down by the intense climate of the region, as troops battle both the Librans and the heat.
In 1950, Several papers detailing President Powell’s scandals are printed and spread across the nation, with his reputation ruined, conservative candidate Charles Abbott wins the elections as Powell withdraws. An investigation into Powell’s actions would be launched following Abbott’s election. That same year, The Federation of Libra would join The Dragon Compact.
In 1952, The Ursan Federal Navy pushes the Kalmar-line of submarines into service, specifically those of the K-XX submersible series. By 1956 these would be used to strike against military assets in Finnsberg, Hydrus. That same year, The Antarean Armada would be decimated, losing their sea dominance. Orion armies began landing in eastern Tucana, beginning the land campaign.
The Ursan Blunder and The Liberation of Centaura[]
as 1959 dawned, a shocking revelation would come to light: The SIC Incident which had started the war was orchestrated by Ursan representatives, framing Orion. As a result, The Solistice was disbanded and Antares would turn against Ursa: as Ursa itself would fall into Civil War as well.
With the help of warlords in Riaa and remnants of the NCA (North Centauran Alliance) in Columba, The Orionite and Hydrusite armies begin pushing back Antares, that same year, Antares would be pushed back to its original borders pre-conquest. Seeing the tide turn against them, Kaden Tau of Antares surrenders himself and his unit to the Compact. This was followed by other defecting units before Orion organized them into a company under Kaden, finding themselves fighting alongside the Compact.
Compact forces capture Emperor Aran Tau and his family, ending the war. All of them, except Kaden and Andrew Tau would face harsh punishment. The Forman War draws to an end with 50 million dead in its wake.
Post-Forman War[]
Following Aran’s execution, the Imperium was split into four new states based on the borders of the former kingdoms that inhabited the region. Lupus to the east, Norma to the southeast, Ara to the southwest and Scorpius to the west were born, with Orion giving each a new leader. Orionite and Libran delegates would create the Leges Vitae, a set of international war laws granting protection to civilians, medical personnel and other regulations that ensured the safety of non-combat personnel and appropriate punishment for not complying. All Centauran nations are made to sign the accord else Orion occupies them indefinitely.
The Orionite government issues grants to all districts to construct more health facilities and employment of more doctors. The rate of veterans suffering from PTSD began to reduce in the following years.
By 1962, Orionite occupation forces are withdrawn from Centaura following the complete signing of the Leges Vitae. And in 1964, Orionite healthcare reports indicate that cases of PTSD have significantly decreased, the Orionite government continues investment into public healthcare by increasing hospital budgets, encouraging research and development into new medical practices. 2 years later, Orion would go on to create the first ever atomic bomb, testing it in The Greater Canisian Desert, Orion would promise to never use the weapon: for it would violate multiple instances of the Legas Vitae.
An Orionite astronaut, Ezekiel Harrison: would become the first man to ever reach space in 1972 with the help of The Hydran Space Administration's rocket Hasta-II, And by 1994, Orion & Hydrus would finally clear the Canis Desert of the mines laid during The Grease Wars by Ursan troops.

- Orion is likely inspired by The USA and maybe Britain.
- In 1962, Orionite veteran Hector Osman decided to attempt a world record for how fast he could cross the country with a modified 1962 Bruno Armadillo. Despite police efforts (due to the lack of any authorization) they would not catch up to him until he crashed on the outskirts of the Geminia district, killing him.
- Orion (and Antares) were originally Roblox Clans.
- Operation Inanis was a plan devised to send a fleet of ships across the Inanis ocean to bomb the Antarean mainland, this plan was shelved however.
- Orionites have a Eastern US accent
