The Orphan Queen is a posthumous character in the Netflix animated series The Dragon Prince. She is an ancestor of Ezran, who 300 years before the events of the series, discovered Aaravos's manipulations on humanity and with the help of the archdragons, the Jailer, and Akiyu, imprisoned Aaravos. When she died, the queen had the Novablade, a weapon capable of destroying a Startouch Elf's physical form, put on her grave to hide it.
History[]
Little is known about the Orphan Queen's past, only that, as the name implies, she was an orphan who started her life without wealth or status. One day when she was young, she ended up discovering the manipulations Aaravos was doing on humanity, and would inform the archdragons and elves about them.
Avizandum, one of the archdragons, decided to find a way to win against Aaravos without the latter knowing about their plan. During this, the Orphan Queen was given the Novablade, a weapon capable of destroying a Startouch Elf's physical form, by the Celestial Elves. However, the Orphan Queen decided to instead spare Aaravos by imprisoning him in a magic pearl, and with the help of the Tidebound archmage Akiyu and the Jailer, they were able to do so.
The Orphan Queen would become queen of the kingdom of Katolis, and decades after Aaravos' defeat, the Orphan Queen decided to pass the Key of Aaravos through her descendants, while having the Novablade put on her grave to make sure nobody would find it. Centuries later, Ezran was able to get the Novablade and attempted to use it to destroy Aaravos and end his plans once and for all, although thanks to the archdragons' sacrifice, he didn't need to.
Trivia[]
- Katolis has a law that only orphans are allowed to ascend to the throne. While never stated, it's highly likely the Orphan Queen was the one to have made that law.
