Osato is the deuteragonist of the After Darkness, a short story of The Dragon Prince. He was Karim's childhood friend, who became a military captain and partook in Karim's attempt to recapture Lux Aurea after the corruption of the Sunforge. He was killed by a katolian soldier named Tijana after he was infected by the corruption of the Sunforge.
History[]
Backstory[]
During his childhood, Osato became friends with the Sunfire prince Karim, and the two would play Bannerman's Run together, with Osato always shielding him from his enemy team while Karim holded the game's banner. Osato would later become the captain of Lux Aurea's military.
After Darkness[]
After the corruption of the Sunforge and the death of Queen Khessa, Osato and his team went to help Karim get to the Sunforge so they could reclaim Lux Aurea. However, because of the creatures and elves that got corrupted by the Sunforge, Osato's soldiers got split up.
After this, Karim was attacked by a corrupted banther, but he was saved by a katolian soldier named Tijana, and Osato was able to kill the banther. They would then see that several of their comrades had been infected by the Sunforge and turned into monsters. Despite being horrifed by what happened to his friends, Osato calmed Karim down and decided to leave Lux Aurea, since he knew that they wouldn't be able to reclaim it, and told Karim that they would have another chance someday.
Osato then escaped from Lux Aurea with Karim and Tijana, whom he shielded from the other Sunfire creatures. Osato also tried to warn his soldiers to leave Lux Aurea as well, although it seemed to have failed. After getting out of Lux Aurea, Tijana told Osato that he was bleeding.
He then came to realize that he was infected by the corruption of the sunforge, and begged Tijana to cut off his arm to stop the infection, which she did. However, the loss of his arm did nothing to stop the infection, and he quickly turned into a sunfire monster. What was once Osato then threw Tijana's sword out of her hands and tried to kill her.
Shocked by the situation, Karim blinded Osato, which gave Tijana enough time to stab Osato, killing him. Karim, broken by the death of his childhood friend in front of his eyes, blamed Tijana for Osato's death and insults her for being a human. While this angered Tijana to the point that it seemed she was getting ready to start a fight with Karim, she instead started sobbing and left.
Osato's body was then burried by Karim, and he started using Osato's bloody glove on his right hand, swearing on his grave that he would save Lux Aurea.
