Override is a supporting character in the Transformers franchise. The original version of the character came from the 1988 toyline.
Biography[]
Generation One[]
Override first appeared in Issue #46 of the Marvel US comic among a group of Autobots imprisoned by the Decepticons on Cybertron. A flashback in Issue #48 revealed that he and fellow Triggerbots Backstreet and Dogfight had previously served with Optimus Prime on Cybertron and aided him in his search for the knowledge of the Underbase. Override returned in the present day in the UK exclusive story "Race With the Devil" where he, Backstreet and Dogfight travelled to Earth in pursuit of Dreadwind and Darkwing. They failed to stop the pair retrieving the remains of Starscream but did save archeologist Susan Hoffman and her assistant from hospital tribesmen.
Override's largest role came in Issue #63 during the Matrix Quest storyline where he, Backstreet and Dogfight were ensnared by psychic vampires during their search for the Creation Matrix, eventually managing to overcome their conditioning and slay their opponents. In the UK annual text story "Trigger-Happy", Override was serving under Optimus Prime on Earth and berated Backstreet for blowing the Autobots' cover during an ambush, telling him he was likely to be executed. Optimus Prime chastised him when the lecture caused Backstreet to run and hide.
In the G.I. Joe storyline that set up the Generation 2 comic, Override was one of the Autobots who went to Earth to challenge the rebuilt Megatron. He was killed by Megatron while providing a distraction so Skydive could be smuggled aboard the Ark.
Unicron Trllogy[]
Override was a major character in Transformers: Cybertron, first appearing at the conclusion of the fourth episode "Landmine" where she was seen by Hot Shot and Red Alert on their arrival on Velocitron. Override was the leader of the local Transformers, by virtue of being the fastest racer. Hot Shot, Megatron and Optimus Prime all tried to press on her the importance of the Planet Key which the Autobots needed to save Cybertron but Override was only interested in racing. However, when Hot Shot twice helped her out during a sabotaged race and she saw the cheating of Megatron's local allies Ransack and Crumplezone, she saw the virtues of the Autobots, helping them recover the Planet Key and accompanying them back to Earth.
Override continued to work with the Autobots, befriended human Lori who she dubbed "Little sister". She helped them out in campaigns against Starscream and Scourge as they recovered the remaining Planet Keys, at one point being teamed with Wing Saber and Lori to explore Gigantion. She was present for the revival of Primus and the final defeat of Galvatron. In the series finale, "Beginnings", she agreed to join Optimus Prime on his plan to reunite all the planets with space bridges, leaving Hot Shot in charge of Velocitron.
She was voiced at various points by Lisa Ann Baley, who also voiced Chi-Chi in Ocean Group dubs of the Dragon Ball movie, Cammy White in the English dub of the Street Fighter cartoon and Teela in the 2002 Masters of the Universe, and Nicole Oliver, who also voiced Joyride as well as Princess Celestia in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the Sorceress in the 2002 Masters of the Universe cartoon and Carlita in Barbie of Swan Lake.
