“ | Knuckles, your quest is not complete. It's only begun! You are the last of the Echidnas! And so, the legacy of our people is in your hands. | „ |
~ Pachacamac to Knuckles in the first episode of the miniseries, The Warrior. |
Pachacamac is the overarching antagonist of the Sonic Cinematic Universe.
He was originally the antagonistic leader of the Echidna tribe who wanted to capture Sonic at all costs to gain his power and find the Master Emerald. He and his tribe were also the reason why Sonic had to hide on Earth and responsible for killing Longclaw, but seemingly died in the process. Despite these actions, in the miniseries Knuckles, he is shown to have mellowed out as a spirit, having given up on the pursuit of power and is a good mentor to Knuckles and later Wade Whipple.
He is voiced by Christopher Lloyd; who also played Emmett Brown in Back to the Future franchise, Charlie Wilcox in Suburban Commando and the title character in The Pagemaster.
Personality[]
In life, Pachacamac was a very cold, aggressive and evil warrior tribe leader, thirsty for power, even willing to kill to get it. As a ghost, however, he shows that even before his life he had a certain honor and was a good leader and is like a grandfather to Knucles, proving to be a good mentor and a good friend.
History[]
Past[]
Pachacamac has always been a great leader and strong warrior of the echidna tribe, he even trained Knuckles who wasn't much at first and served as a good mentor to them. He was hunting the young Sonic presumably wanting his power and attacked him and Longclaw in their home after chasing Sonic. Longclaw ran away with Sonic clinging to her, but Pachacamac managed to hit her from behind and then a wounded Longclaw on the ground used one of the rings to open a passage to the ground allowing Sonic to escape and warned him to never stop running. After he passed Sonic through the ring, Longclaw said goodbye to him and closed the ring before Sonic could return to her and saw her with Pachacamac and the other echidnas running towards her in which it appeared that Pachacamac and all the other echidnas died.
Knuckles (TV series)[]
Episode 1: The Warrior[]
Knuckles can't relax like the others do after Robotnik's defeat, and is grounded by Maddie for attacking and snapping at everyone like a warrior. Knuckles is depressed, feeling useless after recovering the Master Emerald and having no one to fight, and prays to the ancient echidnas to send them a sign. Pachacamac appears behind him as a spirit and reads a newspaper and complains about the fact that a team lost again. When Knuckles recognizes him, he wants to give them a hug, but when they do, Pachacamac falls down and then comes back up and remembers that he is a spirit. Knuckles explains to them that he has accomplished the echidnas' mission, but Pachacamac explains that this is not the case and that he has a new mission, to train and teach their ancient traditions to an apprentice of his that he chooses, Wade Whipple. Knuckles admits that he knows him, but that he's not much of a guy, but Pachacamac reminds them that he was the same when they first met and reassures him and starts flying towards the sky, but he crashes into the window with some trouble in his spirits and when he manages to leave Knuckles promises that he won't disappoint him and leaves with Wade for a trip to Reno for a bowling championship.
Episode 4: Flames of Disaster[]
After Wade is captured by Jack Sinclair and passes out from the electric bars, Pachacamac appears to them in a dream in a bowling coach's uniform. When Wade notices him he screams in fear causing Pachacamac to scream too but he quickly stops and introduces himself. Wade remembers that Knuckles told them about him but he can't pronounce his name properly despite Pachacamac trying to pronounce it and then Wade decides to just call him "Mac" which is fine with them. Pachacamac explains that they are at a bowling alley because Wade sees his battlefield that way and with a magic scepter to create a sequence of Knuckles' backstory fighting the Flames of Disaster in a musical sequence where Jack Sinclair sings and when Wade asks why he is here, Pachacamac says because they have some unfinished business, which makes Wade think that it is actually because he is keeping him in a cage. With a musical that tells the story of Knuckles, how the owls wiped out his tribe and the Flames of Disaster almost destroyed him, Wade believes that the real strength they want them to believe is in his fists and despite Pachacamac trying to warn him, Wade leaves the dream, but when he faints again because of the electric current on the bars and returns to the dream he lets them finish and finally understands that to win he must have faith in himself and so he manages to get out of the cage and defeat Jack Sinclair and so he and Knuckles, accompanied by Wanda and Wendy Whipple, Wade's older sister and mother, can continue to Reno for the bowling tournament.
