Papagayo is a parrot who wakes up all morning and likes to make squawking sounds every day. He is the protagonist of the book, "Papagayo, the Mischief Maker". He is created by author Gerald McDermott.

Story

Papagayo woke up and started to squawk loudly as he can until no more. The night creatures dislike the behavior of what Papagayo did. He throw a nut on an armadillo's shell and disturbed many of the sleeping nocturnal creatures. The night creatures have had enough of the noisy parrot's squawking. That night, Papagayo went to sleep as the nocturnal animals look at the moon.

The next day, a sloth explains to Papagayo that he is making too much noise since the previous day. The sloth said that he and the other night animals need rest to get early work in the night. Papagayo understood what the sloth said.

When an ancient moon-eating dog woke up and took too much bites on a full moon, all the nocturnal animals were scared about what the canine did to the moon. Seven days later, Papagayo talked to the nervous animals. The animals were worried that the ancient beast ate almost of the full moon.

Papagayo had a plan, make many noises in the jungle to scare away the ancient beast from eating the moon. He rallied the night creatures to beat and make noises to scare away the giant dog. The next morning, Papagayo happily greeted all the animals of the jungle.
