Patrick Fitzgerald is a supporting character in the The Amazing World of Gumball. He is the patriarch of the Fitzgerald family. While he initially doesn't approve of Gumball Watterson and Penny Fitzgerald's relationship, this changes in "The Shell" where he smiles with approval.
He is voiced by Dan Russell.
Appearance[]
Patrick is a large anthropomorphic bulky peanut with moose antlers and hollowed-out eyes. He wears brown sandals with socks.
Personality[]
Patrick is very serious and protective of his family, especially his daughter, Penny. He wants to make sure that she is not taken advantage of by potential partners, and is very skeptical of boys her age. As a result, he can often act rudely or assertively and insists that he knows what is best for his daughter, even if she disapproves. He has a conservative attitude regarding Penny's transformation in "The Shell," as he perceives Penny without her shell as "basically naked," in violation of family traditions, and unstable and dangerous.
His relationship with Gumball is complicated, as occasionally he perceives Gumball as a troublemaker not good enough for his daughter, but other times acknowledges when Gumball does good by his daughter, such as saving her in "The Knights" or supporting her in "The Shell."
Patrick is also a fit and active person, as he can be seen jogging. Or he breaks Gumball's ukulele using his strength.
