Paul Greyrat is a major character of the Isekai light novel, manga and anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. He is the father of Rudeus, Norn and Aisha Greyrat and the husband of Zenitsh and Lilia Greyrat. Following the Teleportation Incident, he and Norn found themself in the Southern Regions of the Asura Kingdom. He tries to find the rest of his family who are teleported to otherpart of the world, but eventually gave up and fells into depression until he and Rudeus finally reunited. During the Labyrinth Arc, Paul, alongside a party comprised of Rudeus, Roxy, and company confronted the Hydra of the maze. However as victory was close, Paul tragically sacrificed his life to protect Rudeus out of the way from the monster's final attack, brutally slashing the father in front of his son.
He was voiced by Jared Smith in English and Eiji Takemoto in Japanese.
Appearance[]
Paul is a handsome and muscular man and like his son Rudeus, he has a mole his left eye. He has tawny brown hairs and are often tied in a ponytail since he was in his 20s. Due to his depression of not being able to find the rest of his family, his eyes become dark and has more beard growing around his mouth.
Personality[]
During Rudeus’s childhood, he loved impressing Rudeus various tricks, his swordsmanship. He was often in a good mood, According to peoples outside of the family who knows Paul, he is actually rude and tend to speak like an agressive person, as this suprised that his son is the complete opposite of him, who appears to be polite and has great manners. When Roxy was about to leave, he would get emotional and cry a little bit after she lived with the family for around 1 year and half. After finally meeting reuniting with Rudeus because of the teleportation incident, Paul is drunk and was not in good mood to see Rudeus, after learning what he did during his “vacation” in the Demon Contient while he was still in a depression due to not being able to find the rest of his family. Similar to his son, he is a lecherous individual, being attracted to womens with large breasts, as it's a pretty common trait in the Notos family.
Background[]
Paul was born from a high ranking noble family, known as the Notos in the Asura Kingdom. At age 12 he got a fight with his father and would leave his home, he would throw away his last name to became an adventurer and form a party called Fangs of the Black Wolf with five other peoples. At that time, he was a very lecherous man that has attracted many womens and have slept with them before eventually marrying, one his party member Zenith, who gave would gave birth to Rudeus later on.
Abilties[]
- Water and North God Styled-Swordmanship. He has been shown to use Water God Style against Rudeus when training with him as a child. Later in the series, he also used Longsword of Silence, an advanced technique of the Sword God Style again against Rudeus.
Equipments[]
- "Paul's Beloved Sword": When he was younger, as an adventurer he used a longsword with a triangular shape crucifix guard and two triangle shaped holes on it. He would carry it almost anywhere he goes and calls it "Paul's Beloved Sword".
Trivia[]
- Paul's death in the anime happens in Episode 46/22nd Episode of Season 2 which is released on June 16 of 2024, on the Father's Day.
- Paul was about 35 of age at the time of his death.
- Because of his decision to leave his family at age 12, he believes that anyone under the age of 12 is a child.
- Ghislaine Dedoldia and Elinalise Dragonroad were his former lovers.
