Paula Persimmon is a minor character of Pixar's 15th full-length animated feature film, Inside Out, and the main protagonist of its spin-off series, Dream Productions.
She is a veteran dream director from Dream Productions who provides happy dreams for her host Riley. After said host becomes 12 years old and has dreams about going to prom, that's when Paula's career as a director is on the line between euphoria and maturity.
She is voiced by Paula Pell.
Appearance[]
Paula Persimmon is a purple bean-shaped Mind Worker who wears a pair of glasses with curly hair.
In Inside Out, Her hair resembled that of an afro and her glasses were black. She also had a more rounded physique and donned a headpiece.
In Dream Productions, she was given a complete redesign, making her more slender, her glasses are now yellow, her hair is shorter, and she now wears an orange spotted scarf.

Paula Persimmon was regarded as the best director in Dream Productions by providing dreams for Riley to remember. Even the emotions held the dreams she made in high regard due to how positive of an influence they had on Riley, including one that convinced her to discard her pacifier which the emotions had never been able to pull off on their own. As Riley got older though, Paula's dreams started to have less of an influence, and they were even being forgotten.
Inside Out[]
While putting together one dream based on Riley in school, said dream gets interrupted by Joy and Sadness who try to wake Riley up by trying to party as a dog before accidentally causing the dog to split resulting in the dream beginning to become horrifying. Realizing what the emotions are trying to do, Paula calls for security while panning away to keep Riley asleep. The dream continues as normal until Jangles breaks in, scaring Riley awake.
Dream Productions[]
Despite what happened prior, Paula continued to direct dreams for Riley. However, her boss, Jean Dewberry, warned her that her dreams were becoming stale while also promoting Paula's assistant director Janelle to director. In Janelle's place, Paula finds herself partnered with Jean's nephew, Xeni, whom Paula absolutely hates. In spite of this, Paula was determined to prove her dreams had meaning to Riley and shoots a dream using an old prop of Mermaid Unicorn she had found. Said dream proved to be a flop due to how outdated and childish Mermaid Unicorn is for a twelve year old girl.
Paula refused to give up and made an attempt to convince Janelle to be her assistant again. However, the moment she sees Janelle's directing, she realizes her friend has talent and deserves the job, and she opts to keep Xeni as her assistant director.
