Pavel Andreievich Chekov (Russian: Павел Андреевич Чехов) (born 2241) was a secondary protagonist in the alternate reality introduced in the 2009 movie Star Trek and various media that followed.
He was portrayed by the late Anton Yelchin.
This Chekov was born four years earlier than his primary universe counterpart. He was a prodigy who entered Starfleet at an early age. Aged 17 in 2258, Chekov was posted to the USS Enterprise of that reality.
Chekov would continue serving with distinction on the Enterprise until she was destroyed in 2263. He would then be reassigned to the Enterprise-A after that ship was completed at Starbase Yorktown.
- Shortly before the release of Star Trek Beyond Anton Yelchin died in a car accident. The producers have stated that Chekov will not be recast for future alternate reality films. It is not yet known how the departure of Chekov will be handled in future films, but it's likely he won't be replaced by any other actor.
