The Synopsis of Peppy Hare from the Star Fox franchise.
History[]
First Timeline[]
Star Fox[]
Peppy's debut in the Star Fox series was marked in "Star Fox". His famous advisory role began here as well, as he gave advice on how to perform certain maneuvers. In contrast to later games, he has no established connection to Fox's father or given any seniority traits which were introduced later.
Star Fox 2[]
Peppy appears in "Star Fox 2" as one of six playable characters (the four males plus females Miyu and Fay).
Main Timeline[]
Early History[]
Peppy Hare was a member of the original Star Fox led by James McCloud. General Pepper had sent them to the planet Venom to quiet down possible threats from the exiled Dr. Andross. When the team reached there, it was found that the third member of the team, Pigma Dengar, was a traitor on Andross's payroll. James and Peppy were imprisoned, but managed to escape. Though Peppy was successful in escaping, he was severely injured. James wasn’t as lucky, as he was presumably killed by Andross as he fought to keep Peppy safe. Peppy barely limped home to tell James's son, Fox, of his father's fate. When Fox was old enough, he took up his father's role as leader of the Star Fox team and Peppy, with Fox's friends Slippy Toad and Falco Lombardi joined the new team.
Lylat War[]

Peppy's communications channel.
The new Star Fox team ends up being put to the test when Andross declares war on the Lylat System and begins invading it. Pepper called on the team to fight off the Androssians. Peppy and his teammates make their way to Corneria, but end up finding the planet's capital in ruins. The team passed through the city to battle one of Andross's two lieutenants found on different areas of Corneria. Regardless of the lieutenant they faced if certain conditions regarding Falco are met, Peppy and the rest of Star Fox will go to either Meteo Asteroid Belt or Sector Y.
Peppy now has the opportunity to avenge the original fallen leader when the team crossed skies with Star Wolf on Fichina, who have been hired by Andross, but what caught Peppy noticed was that the his former ally turned traitor, Pigma was on the team and the two battled it out and in the end Pigma was defeated. The Star Fox team charged their way through planets and star systems before finally arriving at their final destination, Venom. Once again, they were attacked by Star Wolf, who now have stronger ships but were not enough to best the Star Fox team. Fox had decided to go it alone while Peppy and the others were left behind. If the Hard Route is completed, Peppy is ecstatic to see Fox having prevailed but is concerned that Fox is looking around for something and asks what was wrong, but Fox brushes him off. Peppy was next seen receiving a reward for Star Fox with his teammates and then left when ROB 64 called Fox that the team's mothership, the Great Fox, was ready to leave.
Titania Incident[]
At some point after the Lylat War, Peppy's wife Vivian Hare fell ill and ends up passing away. During the four years of peace in the Lylat System, Peppy and the rest of the Star Fox team had little in terms of work, not helped that Falco Lombardi is perpetually bored. They then received a distress signal from Katt Monroe, and Peppy was not overly sure on whether to respond to her S.O.S., as she had a very shady history. However, they eventually decide to go to the source of the distress call, on Titania, due to Falco heading out to help Katt before a consensus can be made. They then head over to one of the Titanian research bases, led by Captain Shears. Shears agreed to assist Star Fox in their search for Falco, under the condition that they must defeat some of the surviving Venomian Army remnants who supposedly stole some of Andross's research that the base with the intentions to replicate for peaceful reasons.
After the Star Fox team fought against the supposed Androssian vessel, as well as Fox finding himself pulled into a dogfight against Falco and emerged victoriously, Peppy gave Fox an earful in regards to fighting against his own ally, viewing it as wrong on Fox's part, telling him what his father would think of him for such a deed. However, when he realized the truth why Fox had a dogfight with Falco in the first place, he became perturbed at the implications of what is actually happening, as well as becoming more distrustful of Shear's actual motives after learning that the Titanian base seemed far too quiet for it to being in actual danger and deployed Slippy to investigate; because of his old age for active duty and Fox's Arwing was going under maintenance. Afterwards, they were hailed by the so-called Venomian Army remnants, who turned out to be members of Katt's group. After seeing that they had made off with some files from the base and planned to leak them onto the black market, although they didn't actually know what was actually inside the contents of these files, Peppy insists that ROB open the files to see what was actually happening and then learned upon reading through the files that it was even worse than previously believed: Shears wasn't really planning on reviving Andross's research, but Andross himself via cloning. Peppy then realizes that he inadvertently placed Slippy in grave peril earlier and attempts to get Slippy to retreat, but learns from ROB that his communication with Slippy was not working. Peppy then acted as the monitor of the mission to save Slippy, telling Fox where to go while Katt and her team acted as the distraction. After Fox rescued Slippy and managed to defeat both Shears and a newly revived Andross, Peppy tried to flee from a cloning culture fluid-soaked Slippy.
Plight of Sauria[]
For the next four years, the Star Fox team, still unable to gain a job that had enough pay to help fix and improve the Great Fox and the rest of the vehicles. It wasn't until General Pepper sent a message to the team asking for assistance on the planet Sauria, which is in a broken state. He stated that the planet was literally falling apart and its impending total destruction would threaten the rest of the Lylat System. Star Fox team agreed to help, but Fox was forced to go it alone on the planet's surface, but Peppy gave Fox some assistance in providing maps and advice on areas through Fox's communicator. When Fox first saw the imprisoned Krystal, Peppy called him out of it and reminded him that he still has a mission to complete. and later advised Fox that the King EarthWalker might know the real reason for the planet not being reunited at the placement of the SpellStones, which turns out that he has to find the remaining five Krazoa Spirits. Later, after Andross's final defeat and Sauria being put back together, Peppy remembered that he had received a message from Krystal, who wished to thank Fox for rescuing her. When she arrived on the mothership, Peppy was the only one not to poke fun at Fox for his obvious attraction to Krystal.
Aparoid Invasion[]
With a new fourth member found in Krystal, Peppy decided that it was time to fully retire from being a pilot. He remained with the crew though, and became the team's strategist and the Great Fox's pilot with ROB 64. Under the instructions of General Pepper, he and the rest of the team soared into the space above Fortuna to fight the last of Andross's army led by Andross's nephew, Andrew Oikonny, who inherited the army to lead the rebellion. Peppy launched the team's Arwings to take out the rebels and when they chased Oikonny to the planet's surface, he warned them that they would never be able to tell what the cornered beast might do. When Oikonny's ship was suddenly obliterated by a moth-like Aparoid, ROB and Peppy recognized it right away and ordered Fox to retrieve its Core Memory after the creature was destroyed.
After General Pepper and Beltino Toad told the team the history of the Aparoid menace that wiped out almost the whole defense force, they receive a distress signal emanating from an outpost on Katina, which was under attack by Aparoids. Fox went down on foot to deal with the Aparoids and Peppy sent him a Landmaster tank to help deal with the more dangerous threats. After Fox had defeated several more of the insectoid creatures, Aparoid Hatchers began to appear and Peppy alerted Fox that he needs to take them out quickly as they can spawn more Aparoids. A gargantuan Aparoid appeared after the annihilation of all the hatchers, but when Peppy tells Fox to snag the Core Memory after its defeat, Pigma appeared from within the base and stole the core from them. Peppy called the team back and pursued Pigma to the Sargasso Space Hideout, though the treacherous swine gave them the slip. Peppy cursed Pigma for going to such a haven of low-life ruffians and commanded the team to take control of the hideout. When the leaders of the hideout were revealed to be the Star Wolf team, Peppy told Fox that there was no choice but to fight them and after the battle, the Star Fox team learned from the newcomer Panther that Pigma was on Fichina.
Peppy informed the team that, though Fichina was usually covered in an eternal blizzard, a climate control center was established to render it habitable for life. He then warned them that Pigma had cut off the center and the blizzard had started up again which they needed to get it back online. Peppy sent Fox down to the surface of Fichina in a Landmaster and told him to take downthe generators of the device's defense shield. After Fox was saved by Falco after being ambushed in the base by the sentry robots, Peppy sent him an Arwing for Fox to use. Peppy lets the team know that the Aparoids had infected the device and that Fox would have to blast it to prevent an explosion from occurring. Falco was surprised at the new knowledge that the Aparoids were actually able to corrupt the machines like the sentry robots and Peppy replied that those with weak wills are easily taken over, something that reminds Fox of his father. The team then pursued Pigma to the Asteroid Belt where they found that he was building a base, something that Peppy was unsurprised by, but what did surprise him was that Pigma was so extremely infected by the Aparoids that he was fused and mutated into a giant Aparoid weapon. Peppy told Fox to dodge the devastating laser Pigma now used and after a tough fight, the machine was soon destroyed. Fox was able to regain the stolen Core Memory and sent it to General Pepper, who told them it was time to go to the Aparoid Homeworld since they were now able to confirm its location. Before doing so, Krystal receives a telepathic message from Sauria and hears cries of agony from its residents and Peppy resets the course there to aid the Saurians. Peppy monitored the fight in the skies with Slippy and Falco while Krystal and Fox fought on the ground to wipe them all out.
When the team heard that Corneria had been invaded and the army decimated, with General Pepper going missing after being cut off during a briefing, Peppy forced the team to head there immediately. He orders Fox to take out all of the radar jammers to help the team easily target enemies. Peppy sent Fox an Arwing when the jammers were destroyed, but the Aparoids destroyed the Arwing and trapped Fox by encircling him, but Fox was saved by Wolf and his team and they helped handle the rest of the Aparoids. Peppy notices the general's flagship on the horizon, but is shocked when the general is revealed to have been infected by Aparoids. Peppy tells that Fox could end the battle by destroying only the machine parts of the flagship and when it fell, Peppy flew in an Arwing underneath the general to catch him before the ship hit the ground, greatly injuring himself so that even he wasn't sure he'd survive, and tells Fox to get the Medical Corps involved immediately. With Pepper out of commission, Peppy led the invasion to the Beltino Orbital Gate. Before they left, the gateway they were using to warp there was assaulted by Aparoids, but they were quickly taken out, allowing the team to enter the gate.
Peppy led the Corneria forces to the homeworld of the Aparoids and sent Fox and Krystal to a floating city stationed above the entrance to the lair of the Aparoid Queen. Peppy warns Fox that they were quickly losing the fight since they had already lost twenty percent of the fleet after Fox had taken out only one Aparoid Hatcher. After all the hatchers were destroyed, another shield had formed over the tunnel to deter entrance, Peppy appeared in the skies above the city, driving the Great Fox consumed almost entirely by Aparoids. ROB told Peppy that the ship would not take any more damage and Peppy told them that it didn't matter. He destroyed the city with the Great Fox's lasers, but could not break the shield with them so he told the team that he had to crash the ship into the shield. Against the objections of the aggrieved Star Fox Team, Peppy flew the ship into the shield and the team flew through the broken shield to allow them entry, but at the ultimate cost of their mothership, the Great Fox.
After the Aparoid Homeworld was destroyed as the result of the death of the Aparoid Queen herself, Slippy was the first to notice that Peppy and ROB had used the bridge of the Great Fox as an escape pod and survived. He promised that he was going to officially retire and asked Fox what he plans to do, but Fox thanked his team for their support.
Anglar Blitz[]
Years pass, and Peppy ends up becoming the Corneria Army's new general, at Pepper's request when he was forced to resign due to him falling ill. When the Star Fox Team falls apart, the Anglars led by their emperor, rose and attacked the Lylat System where he helps the Star Fox team in anyway he can on many of the paths that were chosen by the player. General Peppy also entrusted his daughter Lucy Hare, who was the astrophysics teacher in Fichina, to remain on Corneria and protect their homeworld in his stead while Peppy flew to join up with his old Star Fox crew. Instead of a flagship akin to the one piloted by General Pepper, Peppy used his own Arwing on the battlefield, which resembled the model used during the Aparoid Invasion. Following the fall of the Anglar armies and their Emperor, the successful Cornerians threw a celebration for the returning Star Fox team while Amanda, Katt, Krystal and Lucy prepare food for everyone. Peppy and Lucy attended but slipped away from to fondly remember their late wife and mother, Vivian Hare. All endings are confirmed to be non-canon.
Star Fox Zero[]
Peppy returns in Star Fox Zero, still serving the same role as the team's adviser and gameplay hints like before. Peppy appears in the opening cinema where James apparently sacrificed himself in order to let Peppy make an escape, as shown when Peppy's badly damaged Arwing escapes from from several Harlock-class Frigates. He is the focal point of the mission on Titania where Peppy is held prisoner by the Scrapworm after his Arwing crashed into the sandpit where it lives after getting shot down by Wolf, similar to how Slippy was kidnapped by the Goras in Star Fox 64 after getting attacked by Spyborg. He serves as the playable character in the Salvadora secret level where it's revealed that he was (somehow) able to escape from the Scrapworm before Fox, Falco, and Slippy arrive to rescue him, and takes on the heavily armed battleship single-handedly. Performing the Barrel Roll will cause him to shout "Barrel Roll" every time. As revealed in the trailer, Peppy is seen driving a Landmaster, where the cockpit has a photograph of himself and his army comrades and friends, James and Pepper, but the photograph appears to be torn off in the right corner. This indicates that Pigma was originally there and it was torn as a result of treason five years before the events of the game.
