Percival Tartigrade is a supporting character, formerly antagonist, in LEGO Ninjago: Dragons Rising, serving as a major character in Season 1 and a minor character in Season 2.
While he originally wanted to join the Claws of Imperium by capturing Riyu and bringing him to Empress Beatrix, but after seeing her deception following the Ninja breaking out all of the Dragons, he took his group of Imperian Teens and decided to form a resistance against her, with help from Rapton and the Ninja.
He is voiced by Aidan Drummond.
Biography[]
Percival and the Imperium Teen Protection Force were busy washing windows when the scaffolding gave way from their bouncing before they were saved by a guy called Lampshade Floortile, who was actually a ninja student named Arin. They try to convince 'Lampshade' to teach them his skills before hearing noises from a nearby dumpster. Despite 'Lampshade' trying to keep him away, Percival peered in and found out there was a dragon named Riyu inside.
Percival starts to interrogate 'Lampshade', who confesses he's not an Imperian. Before they could go after him and Riyu, however, quakes caused by escaped dragons knocks a banner on top of them, giving Arin and Riyu a chance to escape.
Percival eventually manages to capture Riyu and moves him along on his hoverboard while practicing a conversation he would have to Rapton for a place in the Claws of Imperium. As he moved Riyu along, Percival came across some Imperium Guards, but they were more concentrated on the dragons' escape, before he comes across Beatrix personally. Percival hands Riyu to Beatrix, who compliments his action before the awestruck boy left.
After Beatrix's false speech about the escaped dragons being recaptured, Percival tells the rest of the Teen Protection Force about seeing them escape through the Monastery of Imperium, leaving them all wondering why Beatrix would lie. The Imperium Teen Protection Force undergone a rebranding and became now known as the Imperium Teen Resistance Force. The group secretly formed the Resistance and became its leaders. They then recruited a few other Imperians, including Rapton, to build up the Resistance.
Percival and the Imperium Teen Protection Force appear behind some Imperium Guards and surprise the Ninja by taking guards out before guiding them away. The Imperium Teen Resistance Force leads the Ninja along the city in order to reach their hideout. Arin questions Percival Tartigrade, who had been doing some research on dragons since their last encounter before Lloyd has Kai get Wyldfyre to hum quietly, which she does when he joins in. Lloyd asks Percival if he saw the explosion, which he replied everyone saw it come from the Advanced Systems Lab. Before they continue on, Beatrix in her Empress Mech arrives with some Claws of Imperium and declares the teens traitors for siding with the Ninja before they charge.
Eventually, Arin, Sora, Riyu, and Percival reach the broadcast tower, where they discover Percival's mole is none other than Rapton, who only turned against Beatrix because she was no longer hunting dragons and more focused on her MergeQuake weapon to get revenge on the ninja. Rapton opposed her after a moment of clarity from not being able to grab the Dragon Core from the Mother Garden. Rapton realized that by using her weapon, she'll destroy the world and Rapton did not want to destroy the world as he loves living in it. After realizing that he was on the wrong side, Rapton heard about Percival's resistance, whom built the fake Dragon Core, but the test resulted in the explosion instead of having Beatrix realize her mistake like they intended. Reluctantly forming a truce with him, they let Rapton use his access for the broadcast, until they're interrupted by Dorama, only for him to be knocked out by Riyu.
The Imperium Teen Protection Force help get Imperians into shelter when Beatrix went to a rampage, opening MergeQuake rifts, until a little girl tripped and was trapped under a lamppost before he helped her up and got one of the teens to get her inside before he was sucked into a rift himself. He was eventually brought back when Lloyd used the Dragon Cores to keep the world in balance.
Several days later, Percival makes a speech, saying people of Imperium, now dubbed New Imperium, should find a voice as a group, like the Ninja, likely forming a council.
