~ Percy to Students on finding the way to the Dormitries.

Percy Weasley is a supporting character in the Harry Potter book series. He is the third child and son of Arthur and Molly Weasley, the younger brother of Bill and Charlie, and the older brother of Fred, George, Ron and Ginny.

Biography[]

Background[]

Percy Weasley was born to Molly and Arthur Weasley on 22 August 1976, as the third of seven children. He was still a small child during the First Wizarding War, in which his maternal uncles, Gideon and Fabian Prewitt were killed. On 31 October 1981, Lord Voldemort was defeated by the infant Harry Potter thus temporarily bringing peace. Percy and his family. He and his siblings, Bill, Charlie, Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny grew up in the borough on the outskirts of Ottery St Catchpole. They were all homeschooled by their mother. Despite their family being poor, Molly and Arthur tried to make it up with their love.

When Percy turned eleven, he began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he was sorted into Gryffindor. He shared a dormitory with Oliver Wood and kept his pet rat Scabbers with him. Unknown to Percy at the time, the pet rat was an Animagus, Peter Pettigrew.

After the Series[]

Under the reformed Ministry and Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt, Percy eventually became the Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. He later married a woman named Audrey and had two daughters with her: Molly and Lucy.

During 2014, Percy and his family attended the Quidditch World Cup. Rita Skeeter noted that Percy looked reasonably well since the Battle of Hogwart.

Personality[]

During Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts, Percy seemed to be a decently nice guy who enjoyed spending time with his friends and a talented leader for Quidditch. However, Percy could be arrogant and considered bossy by his brothers, Fred and George.

This all changed, however, when Percy graduated from Hogwarts and joined the Ministry Of Magic under Cornelius Fudge and soon became pessimistic, arrogant, and even somewhat abusive. He abandoned his family and lost touch with any of his family or friends and instead took a liking to Cornelius Fudge and Dolores Umbridge. When Fudge declared that Voldemort didn't return, he was the right-hand man to him and was supporting him and Umbridge.

After Umbridge was exposed and Cornelius was overthrown and worked under Rufus Scrimgeour, but his shame prevented him from apologizing to his family. During The Final Battle at Hogwarts, Percy apologized to his family for his previous selfish actions he joins in defending the school and jokes with Fred Weasley before a death eater explodes a wall killing Fred. He returns to his former personality and avenges his late brother.

Trivia[]

  • Many fans believe, due to Percy's ambition regarding being a prefect and working for the Ministry of Magic, he would have been a better fit for the House of Slytherin rather than Gryffindor.
  • A large amount of Percy's characterization, as well as his affiliation with Barty Crouch Sr., and the temporary abandonment of his family, were omitted from the films, which portrays Percy as a nicer character.
