| ~ Phil Conners |
Phil Connors is the main protagonist of the movie Groundhog Day. He starts off as an arrogant jerk with little to no heroic qualities who remains this way until after somehow being forced to repeat Groundhog Day for several years. While even then he starts out as very self-centered, manipulative and hedonistic, over time, he gradually becomes much more selfless and starts helping people out of the goodness of his heart.
He is portrayed by Bill Murray.
Biography[]
Before he gets trapped in a time loop that causes him to repeat the same day over and over again, Phil is a very arrogant weatherman who acts like a jerk to almost everybody around him and has a very negative attitude about Groundhog Day and being forced to cover the event. He also initially takes advantage of the time loop by doing immoral things such as tricking a woman into sleeping with him, punching a man in the face, stealing an entire bag full of money, and kidnapping Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog, killing both himself and the groundhog when he gets extremely desperate to get out of the time loop. However, later on, he ends up using the time loop to help people around the town. In the end, Rita falls in love with him, he changes his ways, and the time loop finally ends.
