Biography[]
Creation[]
Phyla-Vell was created by Elysius using the DNA of the Kree superhero Mar-Vell, being grown maturely after her brother Genis-Vell recreated the universe. When Genis fell into madness due to his growing cosmic awareness, Elysius gave Phyla the mantle of Captain Marvel, tasking her to stop her brother. Battling her brother, their fight put them and Elysius into Nth space, but this allowed Genis to regain his sanity once speaking to their mother.
Adventures[]
Leaving Nth space to Earth, Phyla befriended Genis' friends Rick Jones and his significant other Marlo Chandler, going on several adventures with them. When Genis traveled to the future to save Marlo from being killed, Phyla encountered Magus, a being who attempted to kidnap Chandler. Working with Moondragon, Phyla stopped Magus, and asked the telepath to help protect the galaxy from threats. During the Annihilation storyline, Phyla was confronted by the mad titan Thanos, whom demanded that she speak with Drax the Destroyer if she wanted to save Moondragon. After speaking with Drax, Moondragon partnered with Star-Lord and Nova to stop Annihilus, defeating the conqueror by stealing back Quasar's quantum bands.
The New Quasar[]
Following Annihilus' defeat, Phyla decided to become the new Quasar and focused on helping others rebuild with Moondragon, whom she also started dating. After the Phalanx's attack, Phyla investigated a mysterious voice that seem to come from the quantum bands, which were telling her to find the "redeemer", which was revealed to be Adam Warlock. During her search, Phyla battled the Super-Adaptoid, who was also looking for Warlock so he could be assimilated. Once reaching Morag IV, the duo learned that the mysterious voice was the Supreme Intelligence, who chose Warlock to become the Kree's savior. Warlock then ran away to the High Evolutionary when the Phalanx came for him, and Phyla deduced that he was tasked by the Supreme Intelligence to create more Kree.
During their conversation, Ultron attacked the group and killed Moondragon in the process, much to Phyla's anguish. Angered by the death of her lover, the new Quasar attacked Ultron, but was saved by Warlock after the High Evolutionary made the sun overlooking his base go supernova. She was ultimately convinced by Warlock and the spirit of Moondragon to stop Ultron, doing so once Adam empowered her with the souls of the Kree race. After defeating Ultron, Phyla joined the Guardians of the Galaxy, but later departed when Drax revealed the truth of how the team was formed. She then worked with Drax to bring Moondragon back to life, bargaining a deal with the Dragon of the Moon to become Oblivion's avatar.
Oblivion's Avatar[]
Once becoming the new avatar for Oblivion, Phyla took on the title of Martyr and made a deal to the entity to kill the avatar of life. During the Inhumans war, she caused it to escalate to the point that the Inhumans caused a multiversal fault to immerse. Once Warlock came to close the fault, Phyla attempted to make her move to kill Adam to stop his transformation into Magus, but this was stopped by the Guardians when they undid her attempt. As a result, Adam transformed into Magus and captured Phyla, bringing her to a resurrected Thanos, who killed her upon his return.
