~ Pocahontas |
Pocahontas is the heroine and the main protagonist of the children's movie Young Pocahontas.
She was voiced by Mona Marshall.
Biography[]
12-year-old Pocahontas lives with her father, Chief Powhatan, in a Native American village. She is adventurous, kind, and curious about what lies beyond the shore of her home. Pocahontas loves hanging out with her friends - an opossum, a squirrel, and a wise bear named Honey.
The conniving medicine man warns her about evil spirits, which leaves Pocahontas confused. Honey tells her that the world is full of good spirits like apples, acorns, and honey.
When Captain John Smith comes ashore, he is captured by Powhatan and his men, but Pocahontas can see that he has a kind heart, since he has rescued a wounded bird. She begs her tribe to set him free, and Powhatan reluctantly does so.
The Medicine Man tells Pocahontas that the stranger is evil, but she thinks otherwise and refuses to believe him. John Smith gives her information about his country, England, and the two of them form a close bond.
Pocahontas's animal friends discover the Medicine Man plotting with his warriors to take out John Smith. They rush over to Pocahontas and tell her what is happening. Pocahontas is determined to warn her father, but the Medicine Man abducts her and prepares for war. Luckily, Honey arrives and rescues Pocahontas, who, aided by her friends, rescue John Smith and defeat the Medicine Man, who in turn is exiled from the tribe. Pocahontas is hailed a hero with John Smith.
