Poppa Henry is the overarching protagonist of The Good Dinosaur. He is an Apatosaurus and the father of Arlo, Buck, and Libby and the husband of Momma Ida.
He is voiced by Jeffrey Wright.

"Brave and selfless, Poppa is a devoted husband and father, working tirelessly to make a life for his family on their farm. He has a soft spot for Arlo, his small and fearful son, and takes special care of him as he grows up. Poppa believes in Arlo and knows that with enough perseverance, Arlo can overcome his fear and make his mark."

Poppa Henry's only appearance was in the beginning of the film. He was the father of Arlo, whom he had named, and hopes he makes his first footprint mark on the family's stone silo when he finally overcomes his fears and becomes perseverant. After Libby and Buck make their marks, Henry becomes suspicious of a creature stealing from the silo. After Arlo fails to trap and kill the creature, Henry takes Arlo up to a ravine, but after a storm ensues, they begin to turn back, until a rushing rapid comes toward the two. Henry manages to save Arlo before he is swept away but he is killed by the rapid. He is hit by a rolling wave and is never seen again.
