~ Poseidon once again supporting his brother Zeus.

Poseidon is a supporting protagonist of the Netflix's anime series Blood of Zeus.

He is the god of the seas, the King of Atlantis, the brother of Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades and Zeus and the half brother of Chiron. He is the son of the Titan Queen Rhea and the King of the Titans Cronus. Like Zeus he has many offspring although his appear to be more monstrous.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Poseidon was born the second-born son of the titan rulers Rhea and Cronos but his father immediately swallowed him whole, as he was afraid of a prophecy about a child of his taking his throne there he stayed locked away in his father's stomach four of his other siblings until one day the youngest among them Zeus, who was saved from being eaten thanks to their mother, tricked Cronos into vomiting them up & freeing them. After being freed he rallied with Zeus and his siblings and began a war against the titans called the Titanomahcy which lasted ten years but they succeeded after he and his brothers were armed with 3 symbols of power, with his symbol being a powerful trident, and with them they overthrew the titans and locked them deep inside a prison in Tartarus.

However when only one titan was left standing before dying, he swore a curse on the gods which soon took the form of beasts known as Giants and thus, he participated in another war against them alongside his fellow Gods, which eventually included two other giants in the final assault led by Zeus. Once the other giants were beaten and their souls were contained inside a special cauldron, Poseidon cast their bodies into the ocean to be forever swallowed and missing in the tides.

Unfortunately Poseidon and his siblings are forced into fighting one more monster before they can restore things to normal, which took the form of the very last of the titan's blood into an elemental beast they called Typhon and as such they couldn't kill him, However he and the others were able to subdue him and imprison him beneath Mount Etna and thanks to Hecate's witchcraft, created the Eleusinian Stone, which contains the power stolen from Typhon and vowed to never speak his name again out of fear & to ensure he stays trapped.

After defeating Typhon, Poseidon and Zeus alongside their oldest brother Hades decided to determine who would rule the three different realms of the world and decided to use the stone to decide who gets the skies, but just as they're about to begin Hera secretly intervened by making sure Zeus gets the stone with Poseidon knowing about it but decided to just go along with it and as such, Zeus gets to rule the heavens, Poseidon gets the sea, while Hades gets the Underworld.

Personality[]

Poseidon appeared to have strained patience for his brother Zeus and his many affairs, as he held Zeus, who was also his king, to high standards and expected him to abide by the laws and rules Zeus had established; otherwise, they were a pointless joke. When at last the issues of Zeus and Hera drove a wedge between the Gods of Olympus, Poseidon chose to side with Hera, whom he thought would be fairer and just in abiding by the laws of Olympus, until Hera offered the Giants dominion over his seas. Poseidon refused to surrender his kingdom and returned to Zeus, claiming Hera was mad. But Zeus saw through Poseidon, correctly guessing what she'd done and how it didn't sit well with the sea god, but he accepted him nonetheless, though the gesture still humbled Poseidon.

Poseidon appears to be a very opportunistic god as he values his power over the sea above doing what's right which is shown when he sided with Zeus not because Hera released the giants but because she offered them the sea. It's also revealed in Season 2 that Poseidon knew Hera cheated so her and Zeus would rule Olympus and although he claimed Zeus and Hera were the best candidates for king and queen of the gods It's hinted that he did it because he feared Hera and there is a chance she offered him the sea knowingly condemning his brother Hades to the Underworld something he doesn't seem to feel any guilt about. Despite this he has an honorable side to him for standing up against Kronos and the Titans.

Appearance[]

Poseidon is shown to have a large, muscular build and is one of the tallest Olympians. He has long, silky turquoise hair and a long, silky turquoise beard that appears to twist at the end. He appears to wear a turquoise sash, multiple golden accessories, and a golden crown that could possibly signify him being king of the seas. Poseidon has golden yellow eyes.

Powers and Abilities[]

Olympian Deity Physiology: Poseidon possesses the conventional superhuman physical attributes of an Olympian god. However, as the son of Cronos, some of his powers are greater than that of most Olympians, such as:

  • Immortality: Like all the Greek gods, Poseidon seems ageless if not extremely long-lived.
  • Immense Strength: Like all Greek gods, Poseidon possesses immense physical strength, enough to hold Zeus at bay.
  • Immense Durability: Poseidon possesses immense levels of superhuman durability. The tissues of Poseidon's body are considerably harder and more resistant to physical injury than those of a mortal being.
  • Immense Stamina: Poseidon's divine musculature produces considerably less fatigue than an ordinary human during physical activity.
  • Immense Speed: Poseidon can move and run at immense speed. He is the greatest swimmer out of all of the gods, moving at superhuman speeds while still being in the water.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor: Like all Olympians, despite his superhuman durability, it is possible to physically (or even mentally) injure him. However, if injured, he can heal with superhuman speed and efficiency. The full limits of his healing powers are unknown. However, they are considered considerably higher than those of the vast majority of his race, being the Olympian God of the Seas itself.
  • Levitation: As seen in battle, Poseidon can levitate himself off the ground and fly.
  • Advanced Hydrokinesis: Poseidon has control over all forms of water. He can control, create, and manipulate water by making an entire ocean into a puddle or creating tsunamis. He can even use his control over water to create powerful water blasts at his opponents and even create pillars, as he did from underneath him to watch the battle of Seraphim and Heron from Olympus.
  • Aquatic Adaptation: Poseidon appears to have some form of underwater adaptation, enabling him to breathe both air and water. His body can withstand the extreme pressure and temperatures at the bottom of the ocean, and even swim rapidly.
  • Aquatic Zoopathy: He can communicate with all creatures of the seas.
  • Atmokinesis: As the Stormbringer, Poseidon has control over the weather to an equal degree as his brother Zeus.
  • Energy Manipulation: Poseidon possesses powerful energy-wielding abilities that are equaled among the Olympians only by those of Hades and surpassed only by those of Zeus.
  • Remote Viewing: Poseidon was capable of remotely viewing events happening miles away and sensing the prayers of the Greeks.

Trivia[]

  • In popular Greek mythology, Poseidon was the second son of Cronus and Rhea (after Hades) and their penultimate child (before Zeus). Hestia, Demeter, and Hera were his sisters. Like all of his siblings aside from Zeus, Cronus swallowed Poseidon at birth and, thanks to Zeus, afterward disgorged unharmed.
