Priapos is one of the main protagonists of the anime/manga series Maria the Virgin Witch. He is an incubus familiar created by the witch Maria to seduce women. However, due to Maria's lack of knowledge of male anatomy, he lacks a penis, which embarrasses him to no end. To compromise for this, Maria puts him in charge of the shopping and cooking.
He is voiced by Mikako Komatsu in the Japanese version of the anime and Jerry Jewell in the English version.
Appearance[]
In his human form, Priapos has the appearance of a relatively short teenage boy with blonde hair and yellow eyes, though in the anime these are changed to orange and green respectively. In his owl form, he looks very similar to Artemis, implying that he is the same species, though his feathers are green instead of pink.
Personality[]
From very soon after his creation, Priapos is incredibly embarrassed about the fact that he doesn't have a penis, since it means that he can't do what he was created for. Soon enough, he claims that he'll go crazy if he has to keep looking down and see nothing there. He seems to have no concept of tact or subtlety, as he ends up yelling that he needs a penis right in front of the 8-year-old Anne, forcing Maria to scream and cover her ears.
Despite his frequent complaining, Priapos is a very kind and gentle being who can get along well with just about anyone. He quickly becomes just as loyal and protective of Maria as Artemis is, and never teases his master unlike his fellow familiar. He stands by Maria's beliefs, especially since her powers are what gives him his sentience. He also berates Ezekiel for calling Maria a "heretic" and getting angry at Martha simply for praying to her.
Despite his kindness, much like Artemis, Priapos still displays some traits of his former owl nature, picking on Ezekiel early on and calling her a "stupid dove". Due to his loyalty to Maria, he also restrains Ezekiel to keep her from seeing Maria use her magic, such as covering her eyes, and often gets annoyed at the two's constant bickering. Nevertheless, he does make an effort to be civil with Ezekiel unlike Artemis, even flying slow for her while the two are out shopping so Ezekiel can keep up.
