Prince Eric is a prince of the Enchanted Forest and Ariel's true love. He is a recurring character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. He débuts in the sixth episode of the third season. He himself was a victim of Regina's curse.

He is portrayed by Gil McKinney.

History[]

Before The First Curse[]

In the Enchanted Forest, Eric was found and rescued from a shipwreck at the sea by Ariel. After bringing the unconscious man to safety, she falls deeply in love with him, but leaves before he wakes up.

A year later, Eric announced an upcoming Under the Sea Celebration paying tribute to the sea goddess Ursula. Ariel hopes to meet and see him there. Accompanied by Snow White, who Ariel rescued from drowning and quickly befriended, they dressed for the ball. Snow White was happy to help the little mermaid to find the love of her own. Ariel asks Snow to keep her mermaid identity a secret for a while just until Eric gets to know her first. When Eric strolls in, Ariel is too shy to go to him until Snow White pushes her to go to him. As they waltz, he recognizes her as the person who saved him from the shipwreck, but Ariel lies that she is new in town. She expresses interest in seeing the world, so he invites her to leave with him in the morning on an adventurous expedition and promises to wait until tomorrow for an answer. Ariel relates her dilemma to Snow White, who encourages her to honest to Eric about her true self.

After Ariel was tricked by the Evil Queen, who impersonated the Sea Goddess Ursula, to use a bracelet to catch Snow White in order to change her into a mermaid, so she can be human and be with Eric, Ariel interfered and swam Snow to safety and escaped. With Snow's encouragement, Ariel resurfaces at the docks, spotting Eric on the balcony above, but when she calls out to him, her voice is gone. Nearby, the Evil Queen unceremoniously informs Ariel that she stole her voice. She remarks the only thing worse than rejection from Prince Eric is Ariel's inability to ever confess her feelings for him. In tears, a muted Ariel heads under the sea.

During The First Curse[]

Eric was cursed by Regina's curse and working regularly as a fisherman at the docks of Storybrooke.

After The First Curse[]

Eric, like all the victims of the curse, was freed and getting his memories and identities back, but continued working as a fisherman. He suddenly earned a visitor who was none other than Ariel, who was escorted by Belle. Eric was surprised and thrilled to find his love as she is. As they both kissed passionately, the Jolly Roger, which sailed to Neverland to rescue Henry, returned. When the rescue team exited the docks and welcomed back by all the residents, Ariel goes to embrace Snow White, reuniting with her. Snow was amazed to find her mermaid friend in town, thinking she'd never see her again and was thrilled to see that Ariel and Eric found each other as the prince approaches and officially meets and greets Snow in person.
