Prince Phillip is a recurring character of the ABC series, Once Upon a Time. He is the husband and true love of Princess Aurora.
Like his True love, Phillip was one of the few inhabitants of the Enchanted Forest who was not swept up by Regina's Dark Curse, for being under Cora's protective bubble.
He is portrayed by Julian Morris.
History[]
Before the First curse[]
Maleficent turned Phillip into a beast called the Yaoguai in order to keep him and Aurora apart and destroy their happiness. As the Yaoguai, people have been trying to hunt and kill him, until Belle and Mulan came and undid his curse. With his curse broken, he was very grateful and plans to journey and find Aurora and break her curse, accompanied by Mulan.
When the First Curse struck by the Evil Queen, Phillip, Mulan and other residence when frozen by a magical bubble, casted by Cora, and shielded them from being swept from it.
After the First Curse[]
For twenty eight years they have been frozen, but then the curse was broken, and they are free, continuing their quest. They finally reach the castle where Aurora was left sleeping cursed by Maleficent and Regina. Phillip freed her with true love's kiss and the couple reuited. Phillip informed her that Maleficent is gone and is planning to take her to a safe haven where residents are gathering. Mulan then goes to investigate a strange noise nearby. A Wraith emerges and Prince Phillip ends up accidentally manhandled a medallion, marking him as the Wraith's prey. As the three of them travel In the forest, the three of them set up camp for the night. Prince Phillip and Aurora share a passionate kiss, and he leaves to collect some firewood with the promise to be back in few minutes. In truth, Prince Phillip sacrifices his soul to the Wraith just as Aurora and Mulan arrive pleading for him not to. He gives the two women a final farewell by saying, "I love you" and dies in their arms. They return to the palace to honor Prince Phillip by placing his body on the crumbling bier. But then, Mulan and Aurora find Emma and Snow White unconscious, who had appeared alongside the wraith, and the women believe the mysterious strangers are responsible for Phillip's death.
In the Final episode of s2, Phillip is seen alive and well with Aurora and Mulan. For the two women rescued his soul from the wraith after Cora, who manipulated her with information, told Aurora a way to restore Phillip. They found another mysterious stranger who near the shores of a river, unconscious and wounded by a bullet shot. They figured he is from the realm that Emma and Snow came from. The trio came to his aid and bring him to their castle. When he awakens and told where he is, Neal reveals that he is from the enchanted forest too, like Snow, and is the son of Rumplestiltskin. Realizing that his son and Emma is endanger, they help him find a way to get to them.
Before the Second Curse[]
Phillip and pregnant Aurora were having a honeymoon picnic until strange magical purple cloud clouded the sky. To their shock, they find the inhabitants and cursed victims of the first curse appear, all in their true forms. Aurora recognized one of them as her good friend, Snow White, and asks her what happened, and Snow replies that they are back. Afterwards, Snow asks them how have things been since she and Emma left, including the ogres. Aurora assured that they have been defeated and they are restoring their kingdom and their lives.
Months later, at a Coronation ceremony of Snow's pregnancy, Aurora and Phillip were some of the guests. Belle then came in and reported that she and Neal had been gone to see if they can revive Rumple. They were able to resurrect him at the cost of his life, by the Wicked Witch's trickery. But informed that Rumple managed to save him by absorbing him and now the Witch controls the Dark one. Aurora and Phillip confess that they know what Zelena is planning, for they had a connection with her and informed that she wants the Charming's unborn baby and that she had threatened them and their unborn child. Suddenly, Zelena flew in the castle and turned Phillip & Aurora into Flying Monkeys.
After the Second Curse[]
After Zelena had been defeated by Regina and Charming saving his new son, every victim who got turned into flying monkeys, including Phillip & Aurora changed back. Off screen, they have a son of their own too named Phillip Junior. Aurora was seen in the coronation ceremony of Snow White & Charming's son, and presumingly Phillip is there too. They lived in Storybrooke since.
Trivia[]
- Phillip is based on the prince from the fairytale, "Sleeping Beauty. He is also based on the character of the same name from the Disney film, Sleeping Beauty.
- The feud between Maleficent and him and his wife was not over and unfinished.
