Prince Rutherford is a supporting character in Friendship is Magic.
He is a yack, prince of the kingdom of Yakyakistan, appered for the first time in the episode of season 5 “Party Pooped”.
He is played by Garry Chalk who also voices Optimus Primal from Beast Wars: Transformers, Rush from Mega Man series, Frazer in Barbie as The Island Princess, Baker in Barbie of Swan Lake and Break Summers in Barbie in A Mermaid Tale series.
Personlaity[]
Rutherford is best known as a very dizzy, loud, quick-tempered and crazy individual. He is extremely kind, like when he is seen welcoming Twilight and the others Mane Six into his reigns him very calmly, but he often loses control if things take a turn for the worse, unleashing a destructive fury.
One thing he loves a lot is classical music.
He often speaks in broken sentences, omitting most grammatical articles from his speech and sometimes referring to himself and his entourage in the third person.
He is proud to be a yack, like most of his fellow him on the other hand, he also wonders if people help him without him asking (because he expected ponies to help without being asked to).

“Party Pooped”[]
Prince Rutherford participates in a Yakyakistani delegation in Equestria, when he meets Twilight Sparkle for the first time, he tells them that he wishes there was a friendship between the ponies and the yaks. Unfortunately, however, during his visit to Ponyville, Rutherford and his likes lose their temper when a single problem appears before them and involuntarily lose control and begin to destroy everything.
Twilight offers Rutherford a feast of traditional yak foods, but Rutherford destroys the banquet table because he doesn't like the taste of the food. Then Applejack gives them Yakyakhstan-style hay beds to rest for the night, but Rutherford destroys them because they aren't made from Yakyakistan hay.
When Fluttershy takes him to show his animals, Rutherford imitates them and does the same thing to the fabrics of Rarity at the Carousel Boutique, the snow of Rainbow Dash, the baking of the Mrs. Cake and at the piano of Spike. Eventually, frustrated and disappointed with himself over what happened, Prince Yak decides to leave and declare war on Equestria, but thanks to Pinkie Pie, who travels through Equestria trying to help the delegation, stops Rutherford. and throw a party in Ponyville to strengthen the yak spirit.
At the end of the episode, when Pinkie tells Rutherford what makes Equestria great, Prince Yak immediately rejoices and declares that he cancels the war against the ponies and becomes a good friend of them.
”Not Asking for Trouble”[]
Rutherford invites Pinkie Pie to the Yickslurbertfest in Yakyakistan. During the party, however, the yaks accidentally cause an avalanche that covers the village with snow, Pinkie sets out to help the yaks get their village back, but Rutherford refuses out of personal pride.
Eventually Pinkie takes her friends to the yak village without telling Rutherford and they sweep away the snow without knowing on her and the other yaks. Finally, with yak pride preserved, Rutherford declares Pinkie Pie Yak Honorary and "the best kind of friend".
”School Daze”[]
Rutherford introduces a small yak, Yona, when she goes to enroll in the Friendship school. However, Chancellor Neighsay doesn't allow unsubscribe creatures to sign up, and Rutherford is seriously offended and drags Yona out of school. Later, when the students are found after escaping, Mane Six allow Rutherford to rewrite Yona at the school.
Best Gift Ever[]
Rutherford appears to celebrate Snilldar Fest's yak party, here Pinkie Pie asks him for help looking for a gift for Twilight, Prince Yak tells her that the "Gift Givers of the Grove" outnumber the yaks and gives Pinkie Pie a map of the their village.
”The Ending of the End - Part 2“[]
Rutherford participates in the final battle against Queen Chrysalis, Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow, after he and his subjects are rounded up by Yona.
”The Last Problem“[]
Rutherford attends the coronation of Twilight Sparkle as the new ruler of Equestria, He also appears briefly in Pinkie Pie's group photo during The Magic of Friendship Grows.
