Princess Toadstool is the tritagonist of the Nintendo Power comic, Super Mario Adventures.
Biography[]
Princess Toadstool is the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. She enjoys playing video games in her free time. While the Mario bros are busy fixing the plumbing in the castle though, her kingdom is suddenly attack by Bowser who uses his magic to turn her people to stone, including Mario, in an attempt to force the princess to marry him. Princess Toadstool refuses to accept this and takes an army to go face Bowser herself in hopes of making a deal for her people's benefit.
However, her army is ambushed by Lakitu who throw spinies at them, resulting in Princess Toadstool being captured. Fortunately, the princess manages to plan out an escape as she is able to break free without any help, flying away with a cape before being cut off by Mario he flies to Bowser's castle on a bullet bill. Unconscious and with good company, the Princess has a dream of marrying Mario which quickly turns into a nightmare of her marrying Bowser. When Princess Toadstool wakes up, she is informed that Mario has been captured, and she prepares to run back to Bowser's castle, stopping when she is informed of Luigi's plan while noticing herself in Luigi's clothes.
With time to spare, Princess Toadstool sets up a trap for Bowser's castle where she has Yoshi deliver a box full of bombs to them with her and Friendly Floyd inside. Once there, the Princess threatens to blow up the castle if they don't release Mario or them. The Koopaling figure she is bluffing as she would be blowing herself up too. The princess makes it clear she is more than willing to sacrifice herself for her people. After saving Mario, the castle ends up getting blown up due to the bombs being accidentally lit.
As a rescue team arrives to help bring the party home, everybody catches a ride. However, the rescue party turns out to actually be Bowser and his army who leave Mario and Luigi behind while capturing Princess Toadstool, Bowser still determined to marry her. The Princess continues to put up a fight, forcing Bowser to have a Magikoopa hypnotize her into being madly in love with the Koopa King. Mario and Luigi eventually arrive to save the day with Luigi taking out the Magikoopa via a Yoshi stampede, freeing the Princess from the spell who then frees Mario who was captured. With Bowser defeated, the party returns home.
