Professor Paws von Volt is a supporting character in the Geronimo Stilton series. He is a scientist, inventor and one of Geronimo Stilton's friends.
In the cartoon, he was voiced by Lee Tockar.
Description[]
Professor Paws von Volt invents many machines, devices and other objects for the benefit of rodents and nature. He moves his laboratory from time to time, so that no one can steal his discoveries. He is a good friend of Geronimo, who met him on one of his adventures and is usually the only one to know where each of his labs are located.
Professor von Volt graduated from Ratford, the most prestigious university on Mouse Island, where he studied many subjects such as science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, history and medicine.
Appearances[]
I'm Too Fond of My Fur![]
About six months earlier, Professor Paws von Volt traveled to the Himalayas. As he built a secret lab in a cave of the mountains, he discovered a family of three yetis. They were the last survivors of their species, the rest of which were wiped out by a mysterious illness that also infected the cub of the family. Volt had been trying to cure it with herbal medicine, but it was not strong enough, so he called Geronimo for help from his lab, ordering him to go to his house, find his diary and bring it to him.
When Geronimo travels to the Himalayas and brings the diary to Volt, the professor explains it contains a secret formula that might work. Volt produces a new medicine from the formula and it successfully cures the cub.
The Phantom of the Subway[]
Professor von Volt originated the idea to build a subway for New Mouse City from his childhood fascination with tunnels. While helping with the construction, he discovered a network of secret rooms under the city dating back to the Great Cat War, and made his laboratory in one of them since no electrical sources underground could interfere with his experiments on electromagnetic fields. He invented several objects including a superpowered automatic cheese grater, paw massager, steam whisker curler and the Voltinator, a remote control-like device that moves anything it points at. One Sunday, Sally Ratmousen and her assistant Pawsley Pinhead discovered his lab. Volt decided to move his lab to prevent the Voltinator from being stolen, and built an enormous robot cat to keep away intruders while he packed.
When Geronimo, Thea, Trap and Pinky Pick investigate reports of a phantom cat in the subway, they come across the professor and his lab. After Volt shows his latest inventions and explains the story to them, Sally and Pawsley barge into the room. Volt exposes Sally with a video of her and Pawsley rummaging through his lab. Before Volt leaves, Geronimo gives him a silver ring with his initials, which he found in the subway and has been in Volt's family for generations. Sally asks to buy Volt's inventions, offering to pay anything, but Volt lifts Sally into the air using the Voltinator and sets her down on a chandelier. Sally leaps onto Volt, but he throws a Swiss cheese smoke bomb before escaping.
The Temple of the Ruby of Fire[]
Professor von Volt discovers the Ruby of Fire is located in an ancient Incan temple and invites Geronimo, Thea, Trap and Benjamin to join him in finding it, sending them plane tickets. The professor meets the Stiltons at midnight by the Amazon River, and invites them to his submarine, the Vonderwater. Volt makes Benjamin his assistant at his request. The group visits a village, where they are told by the tribe that there is no ruby or temple and learn that something is destroying their forest.
One night, the Stiltons and Volt discover the suspects, a team of rats led by one called Nastytail cutting down trees. After warning the natives, they travel to the temple with Monkeyfur, one of the villagers. Paws almost squeaked in excitement when they found the temple, but Trap hushed him. When they found the giant ruby in the well, Trap accidentally caused it to unleash fire, catching the attention of Nastytail and his henchmen. As they grabbed Monkeyfur, Volt stopped them and showed them the ruby. After Nastytail destroyed the ruby, Monkeyfur revealed the ruby was actually fake and showed Volt and the Stiltons the real Ruby of Fire, guarded by a boa constrictor. After they return to the village, Volt chats about science and plants with Warmfur, one of the villagers.
Geronimo and the Gold Medal Mystery[]
When conducting some secret experiments in genetics, Professor von Volt invented the Voltometer, a machine that can transfer the characteristics of one subject to another, to help doctors fight incurable diseases. Unfortunately, Count Cyrus von Snootrat of Mousylvania held him captive in a lab in the Olympic village and forced Volt to power him with the abilities of various animals through the Voltometer, enabling Snootrat to cheat in the Olympics.
Geronimo and Hercule Poirat stumble upon the lab during their investigation of Mousylvania's participation in the Olympics, finding a sleeping Volt, who objects to experimenting on defenseless animals to help Snootrat cheat. When the count tries to pass the abilities of a rabbit to himself, Volt switches the rabbit with a snail, leaving him stuck in a chair, and restores his speed after the police arrive. As Geronimo, Hercule and Volt are busy chatting, Snootrat destroys the Voltometer in revenge. Volt is devastated by this at first, but quickly realizes the benefit that the machine will no longer be used for immoral purposes.
Get Into Gear, Stilton![]
As part of a secret project to fight against crime in New Mouse City, Professor von Volt built a golden solar energy-powered automobile called Solar, the first talking robot car in the world, with other members of his family: his nephew Dewey and cousins Rusty Carr and Margo Bitmouse. Volt's other cousin, Rusty's sister Carlotta, also worked with them but turned to crime and built Lunar, the evil counterpart to Solar.
Volt sends Solar, which they nickname Sol, to pick up Geronimo and take him to the lab where they work on the car. Solar insists Geronimo to drive her, after which Volt reluctantly agrees, asking for Geronimo to read Solar's entire manual and pass his driving test. He and the scientists also send Geronimo on a mission to retrieve Lunar. Volt and his relatives later help Geronimo paint the headquarters of the driving school.
The Cheese Experiment[]
Professor von Volt is among the scientists researching a cure for rodentia spotilitis.
